all so predictably passive. Like, we are just about world class results-grinding passive, but passive is what we are at the moment

I nodded off a couple of times during the 2nd half.

Kulu on the bench and Son playing every game is a complete mystery to me.

The problem is, i'm not sure Conte rates our squad other than first 11 + Richarlison.

I expect to see the same team again at the weekend. I doubt Conte rotates other than Sess maybe for Perisic.
We made 5 changes after the Marseille game.

We had enough chances to win tonight many times over but sadly, we were fairly pathetic up front. Kane and Sonny have both completely lost their form. One of Harry's most lethal weapons is his passing but that's gone to hell lately.

Some great crosses by Perisic went begging, and even one from Emerson. Richarlison looked dangerous but he can't do everything on his own. Our second half was better than our first, but really, that's not saying much. We took Sonny off but we could just as easily have taken Kane off as well and we wouldn't have missed either of them.

My worry is with both Harry and Sonny so badly out of form, we're going to have to rely on Richarlison to score our goals, and without much help from anyone, he's going to struggle to deliver.

Not good.
Yeah, this is my concern with Kane.

Last season Sonny was bagging the goals but Kane was looking dangerous and is play on the ball was fantastic.

Now, he's scoring but looks off it on the ball. Even the simple things he does so well are not happening.

There was one occasion tonight we worked the ball so well into him and we've typically seen him spin and play a pass into Son or Richarlsion. The ball came to him and his first touch was shocking, and he wasn't even being pressed.

Last week, Marseille really suffocated him but I don't think Sporting did that, he had chances to play passes or make dangerous moves, he just made a mess of them.

Hopefully he picks it up against Leicester, he normally does against them

At 80 minutes we sat back and played for the draw , I don’t mind that but if that’s the tactic bring on bissouma and have an extra layer of security . Kane and Son look like they’ve been flogged to death , I kept looking to see if the grass on the pitch was particularly long because they couldn’t run with or without the ball . When you battle so hard to get top 4 and put in performances like that it’s soul destroying.

Conte’s success relies heavily on proactive wingbacks making decisive counterattacks and crosses. I hate singling players out but Royal is not a Conte wingback and is presently doing my head in ….weirdly Spence is the right type of player so I hope he gets a chance sooner rather than later…..if only so my wife doesn’t have to put up with me saying “Royal couldn’t cross the road let alone the ball”

Complacent about what? This team isn't good to achieve anything of note so what makes it so cocky.

We haven’t lost since the start of April. It happens to players (and managers) when they’re playing badly but scraping results.

Romero is quite obviously not fully fit. He was caught out vs Fulham by Mitrovic and again tonight for their second goal. He isn’t fully extending himself at times. As if he doesn’t trust his body. With the World Cup in 2 months we may not see the best of him till Xmas.
He pulled up in the second half and I thought he was going to go off. He stayed on but like you said maybe he played within himself.

He won’t play Spence. It’s obvious he didn’t want him

I was being quite general but I guess I mean not starting fast and looking to kill teams.

He's being relatively pragmatic and happy for us to reserve energy at times.

As the season goes on he'll want more and certain players won't be getting numerous chances.
So what's the point in these training drills getting them all fit? Which, by the way, we look far from.

Yes but he lost the ball loads. Wasn’t on the end of crosses. He was poor I thought. I think he has struggled all season really.

It's the "Ian Walker" goofball grin that irks me when this stuff happens, really isn't funny.

Not really going to say anything new except agreeing this is majorly on conte and what he is doing is damaging to our squad going forward.

1. playing sonny, when he is miles off form. It literally sends all of the wrong signals to your players that a core group of them are undroppable.

2. tactically he has no ability to change a game or his system. I think in the 40 odd games he has been here i think he did it once against chelsea in january where we got humiliated and he hasn't bothered since. We just lack all creativity.

3. he is sooooo slow to make his subs.

4. we can make 5 bloody changes and yet he only makes one where it could make a difference and it is the most obvious one you knew he would do from minute 1. Kulu for sonny.

5. My biggest worry is how damaging the lack of changes are to the players on the bench like bissouma. They never get a proper chance to show what they can do unless we are cruising to a win, which has been on a couple of occasions this season. He will play the bench in some dud game and then it will be the usual second string team which will look disjointed, so what chance will these players have to shine?

so frustrated for most of this season, but we have been lucky to get points on the board despite playing badly. This result has been coming.

If you showed me tape of this match except blurring out the sidelines and kits I’d tell you it was a Mourinho match circa 2020. Template is spot on.

Conte is starting to grind my gears, spoke about improving the squad and rotating players but here we are running the same bozos into the ground. The only players he’s ‘rotated’ are our 2 best attacking players so far this season (Deki and Richy). If we were playing well you’d understand it, but it has been mostly turgid with flashes of what we can do here and there

And I know I’ll get pelters for this but I’m sick of watching Højberg trudging around in midfield. If he’s tired play Bissouma or Skipp

We play some lovely passes forward from the defensive midfield area to forwards through the middle on the ground but so often when it reaches the striker, Kane or Richardson for instance, the defender is on them so tight we lose it or there's an interception. It's not a bad pass it's that we don't make it quickly enough, there always seems a second before we play it by which time we've telegraphed it, we must be quicker thinking and acting with the ball.

Agree, but our CM is not what you’d call
dynamic. Quite ponderous in fact, even though I think Bentacour was a good signing.

They neither generally play on the half turn, nor are able to break the lines through dribbling, pace or power.
