"scout jobs". Uhuh. And they do a lot of scouting do they these dads? Sure, sure.Cares on MNF just said Chelsea have the best academy because they relocate families and give dads scouting jobs ?
*Sad faceHeard a savagely damning assessment of our youth system from a prem team’s scout.
Lack of interest, investment and planning. Wasn’t great listening

We've got some excellent talent through the age groups but we do look a bit aimless at the moment. What is our strategy as a club? We allowed everything to get so bad that we're now basically operating on a season by season basis, with a top coach, but not necessarily building anything sustainable, but just trying to claw back all of the progress we've lost since we decided a few seasons back that transfers were totally overrated.Heard a savagely damning assessment of our youth system from a prem team’s scout.

Pretty standard, they reckon that 1/2% of academy prospects make it all the way to a Prem first team, so ridiculously hard to achieveSince I’ve been on SC about7 years I’ve followed the youth team through these posts from fans who are very good giving information about our youth , It started with Marcus edwards and others along the way who some thought that they were unbelievable prospects , it’s so sad that very little became first team players . Are we as a club bad at bringing them through or is it like that at most other clubs
For me that is because of the pressure Managers/Head Coaches are under. Most just can't risk persevering with a youngster, unless he is truly outstanding, when either they are fighting relegation or challenging for a top 4 place.Pretty standard, they reckon that 1/2% of academy prospects make it all the way to a Prem first team, so ridiculously hard to achieve
No idea to be honest, probably plays a part, but it’s difficult, thr person who predicts how a youngster develops and plays in the future will be worth a mint as so many variants! For me that is because of the pressure Managers/Head Coaches are under. What about Onomah. Didn't he have his under 23 debut while still 15, evenI'm trying to think of the youngest player I've ever seen play for our U18s. I remember Laste Dombaxe playing as an U15. I think Dean Parrett might have made the odd appearance as an U15. Terry Dixon probably would have done but he was injured for much of his U15s and U16s. I can't think of anyone younger than Laste.
Didn't Dane Scarlett feature for the U18s in 19/20?I'm trying to think of the youngest player I've ever seen play for our U18s. I remember Laste Dombaxe playing as an U15. How old is he now?Be interesting if Ramel Carter might feature pretty young. I think he’s at that stage of scoring 5 goals in a game quite regularly.
