We need to free up space for new players.. and Gio is injured half the time anyway... if we get some new faces in... then this is a good solution. We can't expect them to buy him straight up. I'm sure they know his injury-record.

Not ideal true, however if it enables us the benefit of bringing in someone else now, that can be a starter and contribute positively to help get that top 4/CL spot push, its worth it for 6 months 1/2 wages.

I still get quite excited when his name pops up, thinking we're about to sign him and completely forgetting he's already been here for a couple of years.
Not sure where it went wrong with him as he seemed like a feisty baller for a short time before becoming addicted to the treatment table and international duty.

What’s crazy about this loan is that it enables a soon to be prem league rival to purchase a great CM from them (Guimaraes) in a position we need to strengthen. Oh well…

What’s crazy about this loan is that Newcastle buying Guimaraes is completely isolated from the lo celso loan because they were going to sell to Newcastle anyways due to the fee + crazy wages offered.

Don't read too much into wage contributions etc. We will have made sure we were happy with the deal in terms of loan fees and wages before signing off.
Also, if we want him out I applauded the club backing the manager fully and getting him out even if we have to pay some of his wages.
Hopefully Ndombele is agreed shortly and we can put the pair of them in the same uber to the airport and hope its the last we see of them.
