It sounds like it's gonna be a bun fight for his signature whatever happens. I just hope we have the dough to make it happen because he wants a big piece of the pie. If we don't sign him after this chase that would take the biscuit, but I guess we can't always have our cake and eat it.

Damn I'm wondering what the hell you on about.... nope I'm not even gonna correct it. Fat fingers and a mix of autocorrect :X3:

Brilliant post BTW. Love it

Edit....stuff that I'm changing my funny rating.

If you're good enough, you're old enough and your pay should reflect that, relevant to the market.

I'm sure if someone offered us Foden/Bellingham we'd be happy to pay them £100k upwards.

The horse has well and truly bolted in terms of concerns about pay in football
Now that is just completely nothing to do with an 18 year old that hasn’t played 30 games yet!? Of course we’d pay that for those players.
But we literally sold Sissoko two days ago!
4 years too late ??

He may or may not be the best thing since sliced bread. However, not too many of our current players are on 100k and above (Kane, Sonny, Ndom, Hugo, maybe Romero). So question is how the rest of the squad reacts if we make an 18-year old kid (who for the time being is basically all potential) one of our top earners?

It’s not that I’m bitter!! Why would I be bitter? I just know we’ve a gapping hole up top that’s needed filling for years and once again we will be left short. So wanting 150k for goals is too much but paying 120k for some kid is practical?
Yes but what decent striker is going to come and sit on the bench behind kane and son? Yes son isn't a striker but he scores goals through the middle, so if any new striker doesn't score for a coulle of games the pressure would be on to play son there.

There's a reason that we haven't been able to get a top level back up striker! It's not been for the lack of trying as we've had the lad from the Dutch league, vinicius and llorente. Unless we get a youngster come through, that is the best that we can attract while kane is still here.

Apparently it doesn’t matter!!? ??‍♂️ Until he signs and it pisses 70% of the players off. Then we can have another internal revolt where we lose the team empathy.

If we rate the kid that highly, you pay the wages. Stick him on 100k a week. If he performs to his potential you suddenly have a 80-100m player on your hands and you can cash in. Seen a lot of worry about his agents etc etc. If they start agitating for a move then it shows something is going right on the field. If we can quadruple our investment in a couple of years then that makes great financial sense to do this deal. Barca want to keep him so that tells us something. Hopefully Hopefully contract is 4 years with an option of a 5th.
The instant we buy him and next year the market settles he is already worth 50mil, without doing anything. He is that good. It’s only his length of contract and Barca being skint that makes him so cheap.

I thought your original point was simply regarding teenagers earning £100k+ I'm just trying to show its not as black and white as that and use an alternative perspective to make my point the fact they're more experienced actually supports the point I was trying to make rather than detracts from it which was; if you're good enough you're old enough which Bellingham and Foden are.

Until we want shot of them?? Aurier, winks, sissoko n’dombele the list goes on. We can’t shift them because their weekly wages are too high for their current stature in the game. It means our club. Spurs. Our team we support can’t progress!!! How can you not care? So bloody short sighted.
Bollocks is it shortsighted, I want to watch the team and I want to see the best players possible playing for my team and I'm not going to make like an accountant who has no understanding of investment. There may be outrageous examples like paying half a million a week for a 36 year old but not slightly above average premier League wage for an 18 year old who by all accounts is quality.
None of which matters though because it's not my job to bother about it.

But you’re naming 2 players that play in the cl and for their country. For every “next ronaldo “ are team meant to shell out 100k a week? Seems bonkers deal for me. Rather mkennie personally. Would be a starter also.

Slightly above wage for an 18 year old lol. Are you being serious? Maybe you have been reading that shit over on blue moon too much.

No idea why but I have a funny feeling we won’t get him. We don’t tend to mix well with the ‘nightmare behind the scenes’ agents, and while I recognise we have new leadership (of a sort), I doubt the approach has changed so dramatically.

Let’s hope we get it over the line, but it sounds like there’s so much baggage that if we don’t, it won’t be the end of the world

I think my point was either poorly made or lost......again, you're giving reasons why it is justified to pay those 2 teenagers £100k+. That is literally my point.

Are we not allowed to look at the here and now rather than years down the line? Everyone wants immediate impact but also bring up trouble shifting them.in a few years. For once I'd like to focus on now. This season.

Oh and Sissoko went on Friday. Oh and it's Ndombele not N'dombele.

Unlike Llorente/Janssen/Vinicius, Ings could play all across the front three. So would not have been a bench warmer IMO.
I can understand though why the club was reluctant to give him a massive contract due to his age and injury history.
But I digress. Back to Moriba - I strongly doubt that the club would make him one of our top earners from day one.
Foden is on big wages too, but not compared to the top earners at Citeh.

I’m not sure Levy will cause a wage issue. I would imagine with a large signing on fee and an incentivised basic wage we would be looking more at £40/50k per week.

The wages talked about are a concern for such young players, but as with everything these days football related you either pay the going rate or lose out on the best young players.

Hindsight is a wonderful thing.

We could have had grealish a few seasons ago if we paid a few million more, now he's gone for £100m.

Fact is we have people like Paratici to not only know the best youth prospects out there but also negotiate the price and wages.

If the wages are huge its not because Paratici is a chump, its because he realises the price of losing such a huge talent.

How many industries still pay their staff on a weekly basis in this day and age?
Seems to me that football is one of the main protagonists.
