You were saying exactly the same about Football just 6 weeks ago. That wasn't very prophetic.
Baseball will find a way to make things work, just like Football and most other sports already have.
So the series have gone as expected. Dodgers swept San Diego, Atlanta swept Miami, and the Yankees-Rays match goes down to the final game, with Cole pitching for Yankees, they must hold the advantage now, and whichever team win would be expected to dominate Houston (has there ever been a team with a negative regular season record that has made it to League Championship series like the Astros have)
Still expecting Dodgers v. Yankees/Rays world series, and if betting man would be go with the 2 most famous teams in Baseball will meet in World Series for first time since 1981.
I got into Baseball this week and chose the Padres as my team - i watched them in a couple of games back in 2015 at Petco so thought why not. Was up all night watching them
Fuck me Padres are shit - I support teams that simply do not bloody win anyways - WHYYYYYYY
They are not shit. Had 3rd best record in the season, and are probably the 4th or 5th best team currently. (Rays and Yankees both better IMO as well as Dodgers, Padres and Braves similar)
They were just outclassed by a team with the best record in baseball, who are favourites to win it all, that are superior to Padres in every department
Ok not shit but watching it they were totally outclassed. The Dodgers really good though.
I felt they didnt pitch well - such a vast difference in the pitching of the Dodgers compared to Padres.
Ill definitely take a much more vested interested next season but dont think ill watch erm every game - obviously.
I have enjoyed the Yankees v Rays match ups and been watching it - seems closely matched which makes it intriguing.
Yep, certainly has been. First pitch in deciding game is in half hour. I rate Yankees as favourites, purely due to arguably best pitcher in baseball ,Gerrit Cole starting for them(plus they are my team)
Ill be watching it on BT Sport - As for Stanton - knows how to hit a ball
Cole did look good, huge difference to the Padres lot
Question
So say you have the three bases loaded with one out remaining - the batsman hits it to second base but by then the runner from the third base is on his way to the home plate. The second base runner is out and im presuming so is the first base runner - given there are no more batsmen - but why does the runner from third to home not count as a run?
A bit convuluted from me and im sure its a simple explanation but dont really get that.
A run usually counts if it happens before the 3rd out, however with the exception if caught (cannot do a sacrifice fly with 2 out), or forced out, which with bases loaded it would be (Forced means all runners would have to advance to give hitter a base to advance to)
Spectacular ending to game 4!!
So not only did they let a a player they didnt have test results for play then take him out when it came back positive in order to isolate him which is a massive failure as is, they let him come back out to celebrate the series win without a negative test. Fire Manfred immediately and cut all ties with him. Jesus fucking christ. By far the single worst commissioner in sports. Which is saying something when Roger Goodell exists and european football authorities is filled to the brim with inherently corrupt people in charge. This is absolutely insane.1. Kevin Cash needs to be unceremoniously fired immediately. And the analytics departments need to take a back seat for a bit. That was a disgustingly awful decision.
2. Rob Manfred needs to follow him out the door stage left. What a beyond terrible commissioner. The biggest night in the sport became a fucking shit show immediately and now it’ll be a major miracle if there isnt massive outbreaks in the Dodgers & Ray’s organizations. A comedy of incompetence.
