This comes up every now and then. All I’d say is that it is very very strange in this day and age. It can’t just be a coincidence.
I think it's probably unconscious bias that all the scout reports that land on Dyche's desk probably focus on "good characters", "wears black boots", "his dad worked down the mines, he knows proper graft" type stuff.

He never takes responsibility. If he did he would be world class.
No he wouldn't. Passing isn't his job, dropping deep and playing from the back isn't his role. Sissoko is a player with a very particular set of strengths, which are discipline, having a good engine and physicality. He is not a good passer of the ball, and definitely not one you can rely on to pass the ball when facing his own defenders. Like, he is good at what he does but is a limited player, and you do ultimately sacrifice something by starting him, to get something else.

I mean defensively, he needs to try and make space through positional play to make the option of Hojberg or the fullbacks free, but he just doesn't have the skill set to be a reliable way to pass through the press.

Neville chatting absolute bull, talking us down, stinks of jealousy to me

I found it funny that him and the co-commentator today straight up said no to us being potential title challengers this season.

The season so far looks incredibly open and we have a great squad and manager, so why is it so far fetched we could be in the mix?

It’s hardly like any team is setting the league on fire at the moment. If anything, Kane and Son are the most consistent performers.

Kane’s reaction at the final whistle, tells me a story. This was a big 3 points for many reasons. For the 6th game of the season his double fist clench fills me with a surge of adrenalin.
Buckle up peeps, it’s gonna be an intense ride!!

Interesting that Jose was due to bring on Vinicius as the next sub to change the game before the goal. Shows the faith he has in him and where his head was with the other bench options..

I thought tonight was typical Burnley being Burnley, we were not amazing but Burnley made sure we were not able to create anything by sitting deep in defence, bypassing the midfield and suffocating anything we did do through the middle. It was a good plan by them but very predictable and if you don't get those early goals then they won't open up.

What i did like was the defence taking on so many crosses and massive long balls in the air, also managing the game at the end and seeing it out. This was a gritty 1 nil win and picking up 3 points. I'm not sure what all this lucky win crap is about though, the goal was a good setup goal, no luck in that, it was top tier creativity. Kane also kept the ball out of the net, no luck again. He was in the right place as you should be when defending.

We sure won ugly tonight, a speciality of Mourinho's style. We were very lucky not to concede, great defending by Kane,, he has become a defender a provider and still a striker. A great all-round player. Our defence looked much stronger tonight except for Dier's error that nearly led to losing possession in a difficult position. Dier should have cleared the ball, however, we got an handball and got away with it . Great go up to fift position and the scum shit go down to eleventh.
How is it lucky if we have players in defensive positions who defend and prevent goals?

I’ve never understood this mindset. If a player is tasked to prevent a goal being scored and actually does that, how on Earth is that lucky? It’s by design surely?

The luck argument is so simplistic and only looks at moments, it's such a lazy way to analyse a game of football.

Great result tonight. We clearly have two teams. The fun attacking gung ho team and the dogged pragmatic team that we saw tonight. We Jose picked the right team tonight. There are many teams that will lose away to Burnley.

If you look at it in xG terms, if you only create one "big chance" then you're reliant on 100% efficiency and that is a risky way to get a result.
I'm happy we won and we calmed the game down well after the goal and didn't give them much chance to load the box. But I didn't see any elite mentality stuff tonight, just a team struggling to break down an oburate opponent and getting a break with an improvised set piece. Great, but we need to be better than that to put together a real run at the top of the table.
I don’t agree.

Liverpool in a number of games last season had relatively poor games but found a way to win. Utd used to do it regularly under Fergie.

Every team that wins the league has their “slog” games, games where they’ve played below their best level but still find a way to win. We will not play scintillating Football in every game, we will not play at our best in every game, we will not score hatfuls of goals every game. No one does.

To challenge, we need to do what we’ve done today on a more regular basis, win ugly, fund a way to get 3 points even when we’re second best.

We won’t be second best very often this season, but on the occasions we are, we have to show the same resilience.

No he wouldn’t because he isn’t a good enough passer.... which is why Hojbjerg picks the ball up from the back 4 far more often. The team is set up that way and for good reason

Never understood the love for Neville. 3/4 of what you hear from him is a producer in his ear / pre worked out stats. The other 25pc may be his opinion and that’s where the UTD bias comes out. His one and only attempt at management was a disaster.

as for carragher, he’s just a tw.t that if sky had a set off balls would be working for radio Mersey.
