Anybody mind posting the article? Paywall + being a Yankee, don’t quite care for subscribing to another paper. Thanks in advance!

Jose Mourinho is on the brink of making Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg his first summer signing at Tottenham in a £15million deal from Southampton after progress in talks between the clubs this week.

Spurs have agreed the outline of the package to sign the Denmark midfielder, with personal terms a formality. Kyle Walker-Peters is poised to move in the opposite direction in a transfer valued at £12million.

The deals are being treated separately but talks between the clubs have involved getting both done, with completion expected in the next days.

Hojbjerg, 24, has one year left on his contract at St Mary’s and made it clear he wanted to move to a club playing European football, which Mourinho managed by going unbeaten in the final six games of the Premier League season.

Ralph Hasenhuttl stripped Hojbjerg of the captaincy when he refused to commit his future to the club and his determination to join Spurs put them in the driving seat for his signature ahead of Everton and Ajax.

He will compete for a place in central midfield where Tanguy N’Dombele struggled in his first season at the club following his club record £53.8million move from Lyon. Harry Winks, Moussa Sissoko, Giovani Lo Celso and Gedson Fernandes are other options, while Eric Dier was played at centre-back in recent games.

Walker-Peters, 23, spent the second half of the season on loan at Southampton and played regularly during Project Restart after recovering from injury during football’s break for the coronavirus pandemic.

The England Under-21 international came through the ranks at Spurs and will have the chance for a full season as first-choice under Hasenhuttl.

Spurs will also listen to offers for Serge Aurier, their other right-back who is a target for AC Milan, although the clubs are not close to agreeing a fee, with the Ivory Coast international valued close to the £23million received by Paris Saint-Germain three years ago.

Boom, I argued earlier in the week this is one of those transfers which isn't simply "ffs pay the money" and this is exactly how it's gone. 15 Mill for Højbjerg and 12 Mill for KWP is great business and seemingly it sounds like it's going to be wrapped up very quickly. If all true that's an excellent job by Levy.

Levy is such a "youtube footballer highlight" chairman
Not sure I understand what you're getting at, Trix has said that PEH is Jose's number one target. It's one thing to not rate the player but the fact that we're targeting him seemingly doesn't have much to do with Levy in this case.

Lol What I mean is nothing to do with PEH. I mean Levy is really exceptional when he makes great deals (just like those highlight). But overall levy is not consistently good enough and make errors that "won't be included in those highlights"

One thing for sure. I made a poor joke. My bad

Great deal. But KWP is a strong, young English right back and he’s worth more. I think we’ve undervalued him to facilitate the overall deal.

If we valued him more, I'm sure we wouldn't be looking or open to selling him.

It's a good move for him. Gets game time and develop his game.
