Ndombele is super talented but he does have weaknesses. I worry that it will become an Ozil type situation where his presence at the club can overshadow everything because when hes not in the team his stock rises to the point where people believe hes a genius that would carry us to all sorts of wins but when he is in the team he doesn't actually deliver on that level, whilst still capable of being good.

Ozil comparison isn't exact, Ozil is a lot older and hoovering up more of the wage bill but i think it can become a similar issue within the fanbase that seeps into the club and means that any manager that doesn't tie their cart to the Ndombele bandwagon is immediately under some sort of weird pressure.

When that happens and you become beholden to a player who doesn't have high energy and work rate amongst his highest of traits it can cause a rot within the team like with Pogba and Ozil. Manchester are only just recovering the Pogba situation and it took a massive injury layoff and the arrival of Fernandes to allow the team to get settled.

Ndoblele does look like a generational talent on the ball so i can see why people blow him up to this extent, im so impressed with him but we all have to remember he is just a central midfielder and he isnt so amazing that he will dominate every game he plays in because we have seen him play a lot of games and he hasn't done that.

Having said all of this I would try Ndombele in the numbre 10 role over Alli. Lamela, Lo Celso and Ndombele would all be ahead of Alli for that role in the team currently. Getting Alli out of the team is a bigger issue than getting Ndombele in it imo.

ESPN report that Ndombele has told Mourinho that he never wants to play for him again .
Been discussed mate. Both JJ and another (sorry can’t remember who) have said it’s not true. He is vying with GLC for the one spot until a proper DM is brought in to free both of them to play together

Ali Gold reporting that we have no plans to sell Ndombele, that without a DM to protect him he's currently competing against Lo Celso for the role of creative midfielder in the side, and that we plan to bring in a DM over the summer so that both can line up simultaneously as No. 8s in a 4-3-3. That has the ring of truth to me, although I wouldn't mind seeing Ndombele given a go in place of Dele who is not performing.

Either way, with the games coming thick and fast starting next Thursday there will absolutely be a need for rotation. If Ndombele continues to not get picked during that period it'll be a big concern, but if what Ali is saying is true then Lo Celso is rightly being picked ahead of him at the moment and not necessarily indicative of a major rupture behind the scenes.

Would love that to happen. Only hope Ndombele doesn't act up before that.

That also means no more Dele Alli and a 4-3-3 with:
DM
GLC - Ndombele
Bergwijn - Kane - Son

Which is what most of us want to see in the future..

Athletic reporting the stories from France are overblown. No confrontation and he still aims to break into the team this year, though will consider leaving this summer if he can’t.

I could see Dele adapting his game to play off the left competing with Son. He's not going to be a rapid winger type but he's often been compared to Muller due to his movement off the ball and eye for goal so he could play a Raumdeuter type role. He can also do a job up top if Harry needs a rest. As can Son. Good to have options.

Fully agree that a proper DM and 2 progressive midfielders in front would make us look a lot more balanced. The DM is a tricky signing though. Hope Jose can get that right.

Hopefully we get a DM, but whoever it ends up being people will be displeased. Some want a sitter who anchors in front of the defence, some want an aggressive ball winner who makes those tackles which get a stadium off their feet, some want a technician who’s going to start attacks. Ultimately, my mindset is that any of these will improve us so whichever it ends up being, fine by me as long as Jose is happy.

Tanguy Ndombele's current priority is to stay at #thfc and the club do not want to sell him. He is enjoying living in London, he loves the stadium, he admires Daniel Levy as a chairman and gets on well with his teammates, especially Moussa Sissoko and Dele Alli. | @TheAthleticUK

Tanguy Ndombele and José Mourinho's relationship is a confused one. Mourinho has aimed to help him but a reaction has not been forthcoming. Ndombele is disappointed at not playing but hasn't confronted the manager and remains focused on breaking into the line-up. | @TheAthleticUK

I'm not picky but I only want Kante and won't settle for less

Even though Modric struggled he was never dropped and allowed to play himself into the Premier league to become one of the best midfielders of his generation. So no need to throw a tantrum as you put it.

p.s Modric started to play up when we denied his move to Chelsea though did'nt he.
interesting fact. Luka Modric was Mark Viduka's cousin

In terms of DM; we need someone like ndidi to help this guy shine. Pure destroyer, but impossible to get.
I think we will go hard for Rice if Left Pork go down, but not sure that would be a good career move for him.

If we switch to 4:3:3 Dele can rotate/compete with gio and ndombele. He had a great season in midfield originally, maybe it can be rekindled.
Haven't given up on him, still a great talent there too

One of Mourinho's common motivational tactics is to strip a player of any ego that's hindering their ability to play in his system. E.g. his criticism of Hazard and Luke Shaw in recent years.

The right player will respond positively. This period will be character building for Ndombele imo.
