It wasn’t a gritty performance where we were compact and organised and frustrated the opposition though was it? We were totally battered and simply jammed it.

Exactly.

For comparison, Bayern only managed 19 shots / 10 on target when they stuck 7 past us.

City could, and should, have had a sack full of goals that day. We're very lucky that they didn't and it's a minor miracle we got a point.

How is getting a point away at a top club, when we're playing poorly, not a positive?
Trend is more important than a single game

XG and XPTS are good trend predictors. City, Utd and Everton in fact are just unlucky

Should be much higher in the table than now and will likely improve soon

Think you're wasting your energy mate.

I'm convinced he's trolling at this point.

If we're honest the cracks started to show at the start of last season, we had a fantastic start in terms of points but we weren't dominating games like we used to, felt like we were riding our luck a bit. A 50% Dembele probably the difference at times. I'd hoped it was WC fatigue and Wembley disappointment, but its gotten worse this season.

Since the turn of the year is certainly when things really started to go south that's for sure.

This is just wrong. We were brilliant the season before last. Despite the whole Wembley thing we won our CL group with some terrific performances and narrowly lost out to Juve after dominating them. We also won almost all of our home games against the top six with some great performances. It wasn’t quite as good as 16/17 league wise but I’m tired of this rewriting of history.

It would be nice if people could either want Poch to stay, or want Poch to go, without feeling the need to insult each other.
We're allowed to have different opinions and yet, still support the same team.

welcome to modern day Britain :(

How can you say this is just wrong, and then start talking about the season before last - ie, the season he wasn't talking about?

It was a freak result. If that game was played ten times over it could literally of been double digits each time given the vast amount of clear cut chances they created.

Mate that's some strange logic you got going there.

Had we dug in and restricted them to creating little I'd agree with it being a good defensive display.

But they rinsed us, and only their extreme profligacy saw us snatch a ridiculous point.

So many times in the last two seasons we have played slow labourous footie, yes and sometimes snatched the points. That's good generally when you dont totally give up but the quality you show brings confidence not wins.Wins make you feel good but quality has more substance and fosters belief even if sometimes you lose.
I dont see very much quality from us these days. The strong defence is not there as it was 2 years ago. The midfielders dont push up the field and get the ball forward quicker except for Ndombele who has fitness or stamina issues.
Poch cant accept that he us a problem but blames the players, field, ref etc anything except his lack of creative management.
He is in his own bubble

This is all getting fucking twisted. Someone has tried to dig me out about revisionism, after raising issue with claiming we've been shite since last April, because I said its good that at least we got a point against City.

I've more than agreed that we've been terrible this season, just that we've at least some results that prevent it from being a complete disaster yet.

That is all. Nothing else to say.

I think either if you calling this game to be a piece de resistance over a season is not valid. What is valid is assessing the whole thing. To that the two of you probably would both agree somewhat at least surely?

I’ve just realized that, whoops ?
Sorry @SpartanSpur

In any case i’ve seen that point being made before by other posters about the 17/18 season.

I have seen that and it's more about the end of the season where we got into the CL thanks to poor performances but wins at home to Watford/Newcastle and Chelsea/Liverpool dropping points against lower teams.

But it's an oversimplification however you spin it. This time last year we went on a very good run and had an aura and swagger to us at least until we lost to Wolves at the end of the year. If you are going to simplify things, you can just say 2019 has been shite (and certainly 19/20)- there have been very few good performances (United at home, both of Dortmund games, Ajax away, City at home, Huddersfield at home) and only a few more good results.

We've been poor since last February in the league , not just this season.

That isn't revisionism, it's just accurate.

Good day sir lol
