That is pretty ominous, City have barely got out of first gear and a routine 5-0 win to kick things off.
West Ham have not helped themselves at the back trying to play use the edge of their box as their defence line, I think Diop also switched off after the second went in and he has been playing his own game out there

Any player getting caught encroaching from a penalty this season with VAR is just dumb.

Difficult to change the habits of a life time. Vertonghen was talking about it the other day. Defenders have always been taught to use the dark arts, but VAR means they're going to have to unlearn them. Difficult with instinct and when you're so desperate to make a difference for your team in the only way you can - stopping the opposition.

VAR needs to be stopped it is getting farcical

It's getting to the point where players and fans are getting uncomfortable celebrating, just in case the decision is overturned and they look stupid. Used to be a quick glance at the lino and you knew.

Football needs to make its mind up as to whether it wants quick decisions or accurate decisions.

I can't help but think that most fans and pundits just want something to moan about.

However I think a challenge system like in tennis would be better - each manager gets 2 reviews a game or something similar.

So typical that VAR gets a decision like that offside on virtually day one. It totally goes against the original spirit of the offside rule, as @nailsy said.

Retaking the penalty however, I'm completely on board with. Keeper well off his line, plus three players encroaching, the final straw being that one of the encroachers clears the ball. Had to be retaken.

I think the bolded put is what they want. They can't complain about wrong decisions now as much, so they'll complain about the process instead.

Also had B.Silva in the line up, I'm a mug

Yep. Put in Bernardo as his price was see decent and he was great last year. Sterling was too expensive, I'd have had to sacrifice too many players. Crazy how strong City's squad are that they don't even need to play players like him.
