FYI - if you are wondering why the above is so easy to read, it is because this was posted on FTL by the poster Alex Defoe - not Ben himself.

I think with Lennon out, and Naughton not getting any pitch time, we have seen we are short on someone to give us width and pace on the right. Hutton seems to be the only option, so I would say it would need a really good bid for Harry (Levy) to let him go!

Yes I saw McCleash on Sky taking about it, I think this may happen, but again, only if it is a deal Levy wants to do, if not, he will stay, and it will be no problem for Harry!

The tree dwelling one doth speak.

I think the writings been on the wall for both players for a while now, and with Naughton already here and Gudjohnsen seemingly all but finalised, both players are expendable.

I'm quite worried about Pav joining another prem team as I really don't think we've seen the best of him yet. The problem for Pav is that he obviously doesn't exude willingness to work hard in training and therefore falls short in Harry's eyes. Although this approach generally works well, I wonder if the nonchalant super star type of player is likely to slip through the cracks. For example, if Harry was in charge when Berbatov first joined and he didn't hit the ground running, would he have ended up at B'ham on his way to Man Utd instead?

I can just see it now... Pav joins Birmingham today and bags a hat trick against us on Saturday. :-(

Surely we could drag it out so he can't play on Saturday?

Oh I'm sure we could. I'm just entertaining the worst case scenario.

In all seriousness, I couldn't care less if Pav stays or goes. Have we seen the best of him? No. Are we likely to see the best of him? No. Do we have better strikers? Yes. Will he be missed? Of course not.

I'm surprised Pav is likely to stay in England. I think he would suit another League, possibly Serie A better tbh. But you never know, he could be just the player Birmingham need.

As for Hutton, i dont mind too much. If we get Kaboul then we wont need Corluka to cover at centre back. And hopefully Naughton gets the chance to step in as cover.

Pavlyuchenko going seems certain, it's just a matter of where to. Gudjohnson will replace GDS and Pavlyuchenko in teh squad, although that presumably entails sitting on the bench a lot.

I'm slightly surprised about us selling Hutton as we haven't shown much inclination to try Naughton this season and therefore shouldn't be too overly confident with just Corluka as our only experienced RB. I thought we'd keep Hutton until the summer as Harry seems to regard him as a better attacking option than Corluka and he can cover if Corluka has to go to centre back due to other injuries. Selling Hutton would indicate to me that we're bringing in another CB or RB.

Similar situation with Benni McCarthy at West Ham, (OK it's probably a lot further down the line than Pav to Brum) but it's not wrapped up as Blackburn play WHU saturday.

I don't think with purchases you can stipulate when and where they play, it's different with loans. We wouldn't want to sell him, he gets fired up for saturday and bangs in a couple of goals. Rather we wait to the weekend, he can then get a free lift to brum to sign on the dotted.

On the other hand, we may want to push this through, get some wedge on the table and go for a biggie.

Looks like someone's finally flicked the off switch of the revolving door.

No one is leaving.....until someone comes in with a bid and then they are gone.

I'll be surprised if Pav goes to Birmingham. He wants to go home, or at least to a top team. He hasnt got a world cup to worry about. And there is always the chance that he goes to Brum, cant dislodge their two strikers and is on the bench yet again but with the arse ache of moving his family again.

He should've stayed in Russian in the first place instead of moving his family here and joining us

It just have been a tough decision. He has a very young child and the wages at Russian clubs are pretty good.
