Buy cheap, buy twice.

Our 10 must expensive signings are...

Lucas Moura - €29M

Heung-min Son - €30M

Erik Lamela - €30M

Sergio Reguilon - €30M

Roberto soldado - €30M

Steven Bergwijn - €30M

Giovani Lo Celso - €32M

Moussa Sissoko - €35M

Davinson Sanchez - €42M

Tanguy Ndombele - €60M

Apart from Son (who a fair few still have an issue with) the jury is still very much out on the majority of those signings.

The £169M on those bottom 4 certainly doesn't equate to buying cheap & buying twice, does it?

£348M worth of 'talent' listed there. And if the time on this site has shown me anything. It's that there are many, many members who would have very little issue if that £348M was spent on different players.

As has already been said. Spending smart is much more important than spending big.

I'd suggest that the above list shows we've not been too great at the smart Spending thing.

Many on here would have no issue whatsoever if the majority on that list were moved on. That's purely judging by the opinions I/we get to read every day.

Let's just hope this Paratici fella is able to sort out how we spend our money. It's not exactly been spent well previously, if we're honest.

Apparently it could go either way. But Sanchez only wants to take a week off (isolation) and start pre-season.
I think there is so much riding on the decision to go with a back-3, or back-2.

I could see Sanchez, and even Dier, playing well in a back-3 where the right combination could let them play to their strengths, and their weaknesses be covered by two CB partners.

Love to see that Sanchez wants to get back, and get involved in the set-up.

Buy stupid buy twice! Price is irrelevant.

The majority of our better signings over the last 10 years have been budget buys we've taken a risk on. In fact anyone we've spent real money on have either been flops or the jury is still out.

I've been massively against this new regime but that's no longer for this thread, and it's more about long term concerns.

Have to say though it generally looks like there is a coherent game plan as to actually filling the positions we need to.

Paratici's was brought in because of his knowledge of players contracts and clubs financial issues give him a head start over others. I wouldn't be surprised if it's in part due to his relationship with certain journalists giving him the heads up in exchange for information on signings etc(but that's just me guessing a bit).

Cheap doesn't necessarily mean low quality as proven by how many times we have "missed the boat".
Sounds positive. IF we keep kane and sort out a decent defence people may under estimate just how far that will get us imo. The ITK this summer on potential signings has been positive, hopefully we can get a few decent signings over the line.

Lucas Moura - €29M was earned back in one semi final in May 2019

Now do me the same for the rest fo the top 6. What were the transfer fees of the players in their starting 11. Maybe in another thread so we get this back on topic though :p

We buy poorly. We rarely dare to pay big and when we eventually do, we get it wrong.
