This window, in this climate, had last week dealing written all over it.
We've done OK so far but as I think today's news has shown, clubs will now start to get desperate to sell and clear their books.
I've not got any inside knowledge but I honestly expect to see at least a couple in this week.
All the cards are stacked in our favour and we've got Paratici playing the hand.
Except the card saying we've sold some of our unwanted players and now have a decent sum of money/freed up wages to allocate elsewhere

For us to spend 40m + on Adama in a transfermarket where both spanish, france and Italian clubs are screaming for money is in my opinion screaming Mendes business all over it...

Problem is, they're not. We've had weeks of people banging on about how Levy is mental for asking over £100m for Kane, at the same time that Fiorentina and Inter seem to want that for Martinez/Vlahovic - the latter who might one day be a £100m striker, but he's currently a £20m one - even pre-COVID rates (imo).

Traore has a USP. Leon Bailey (£28m?) is slightly similar (in terms of face) and wasn't much cheaper, whilst lacking the explosiveness and PL experience, so around £34m would be spot on for his value I reckon.

The only bargains in europe seem to be players not in demand.

I have a horrible feeling our business is done and we won't see any more new faces for the first eleven.

I see your point, but let’s not look at this one dimensionally.

We should not have a “first eleven”. This is to some extent where our problems have stemmed from over the past few seasons.

We need a strong squad of players where we do not have a first eleven but the option to change how we set up against specific appointments.

Playing teams like City, Chelsea, Liverpool etc we need a strong holding midfield with power and speed to hit on the break.

Playing teams who we can dominate we need a different approach and therefore a different starting eleven.

Some players i.e. Kane, Son, PEH, a strong CD partnership and Lloris will start every game if they are fit. The other positions should be rotated hence the need for a deeper and more balanced squad.

Why?

At the very least, does Traore not seem a more likely signing than not now, given the information from multiple sources?
I guess I should start by saying that I’m not disrespecting our ITKs. And it’s not a dig aimed at Lenvy and the new recruitment team. I just have a feeling that one of the consequences of City’s will-they, won’t-they nonsense over Kane is that the clock has been run down somewhat. Also, we don’t seem to have had any luck in moving on some of our dead wood, which I assume will be necessary to free up cash and squad places.
