Lloris
Walker - Caulker - Vertonghen - Assou-Ekotto
Sandro - Dembele
Lennon - Sigurdsson - Bale
Adebayor
Naughton for Assou-Ekotto if he is'nt fit, Carroll for Demebele same
Play Siggy in the hole and give him a chance to form an understanding with Adebayor, think we'll see more from him playing with a striker who can hold the ball

If Dempsey is in the team AVB deserves the sack. May as well play Gomes as a no.10

Lloris
Walker caulker gallas vert
Lennon sandro Dembele bale
Ade
Defoe

Have to agree with the personnel here. I've been advocating walker to be dropped for some weeks now so I'd probably choose naughton over him. But all else is as good as we've got.

I think its time to move Vertonghan back to Centre back and bring in Naughton to Left back. Watching the City game showed how tired he was and he couldnt get back in time to prevent crosses.

My team would be
Lloris
Walker Vertonghan Caulker Naughton
Sandro
Carroll
Lennon Adebayor Bale
Defoe

I very much doubt that Lloris will play or see both Defoe and Ade together.

My team would be : (433) Lloris; Walker, Caulker, Vertonghen, Naughton; Huddlestone, Sandro, Dembele(Carroll); Lennon, Adebayor, Bale.

I know its early, and we have no idea on the injury situation for some but I need to focus on something more positive, and something to hope for wouldn't be a bad thing to discuss right now because its got pretty depressing in here.

I'm getting down on my knees to pray every night this week for Dembele to make this game. Normally I would prefer him to play more centrally/deeper but I would play him further up for this one to put emphasis on winning the ball high up the pitch as Arsenal certainly like to play out from the back.

AVB will play the same system but I hope he brings in young Tom Carroll and I would put him in alongside Sandro, he's more mobile than Hudd - and he can certainly pick passes, to get us moving on the front foot more frequently. Even I'm losing patience with Hudd and young Tom Carroll's slight stature shouldn't be an issue against Arsenal, he'll not get overpowered with Sandro supporting him.

Come on AVB, fortune favours the brave not the stubborn.

I would go for:

Lloris

Naughton
Gallas
Caulker
Vertonghen

Sandro
Carroll

Lennon
Dembele
Bale

Adebayor

I'm assuming Walker will be a doubt and even if he isn't it might be time to give Naughton a go, just wish Ekotto was back but as it stands we'll have to keep Vert there.

I would swap Lennon for Ade and have Defoe up top. Have Lennon coming later to run at them

I would play one of these 2 formations, all depending on whether Demeble will be fit to play. Without him we lack creativity in the middle and therefore I would play Carroll but that makes us a little bit weaker defensively => Dempsey instead of Sigurdsson.
Lloris
Walker Gallas Caulker Vertonghen
Lennon Sandro Dembele Sigurdsson Bale
Adebayor
or
Lloris
Walker Gallas Caulker Vertonghen
Lennon Sandro Carroll Dempsey Bale
Adebayor

It's simply, a must-not-lose game but my fear is that AVB will take an overly negative approach mid game that will play into Arsenal's hand.

AFAIK Sandro is, and I agree with you, the chances of him being able to perform at anywhere near 100% are negligible. He'll doubtless play but knackered, just as Dempsey was ridiculously asked to play v Chelsea and Ade was left on the bench.

They are playing Colombia in new York I believe. Wait for it - the time of the kick-off is 00.30 in the morning on Thursday (our time).

Next bit of news - Howard Webb is the ref for the gooners match.

That is utterly ridiculous, seriously we should try and pull him out on the grounds of insufficient recovery time.

Cheers for info HS, so basically we agree Sandro will be in no fit state to compete properly in a London derby on Sat lunchtime.

He'll probably have to play though, as we are so short in the mid.

It's getting worse - according to the BBC site, Argentina are playing Brazil the following Thursday - the 22nd! Doesn't say where, but it will probably be in the middle east or something....

Edit - it's in Buenos Aires!
