The old cliche, game of two halves.

Lloris MOTM, great bounce back from Villa nightmare and his saves were crucial. Kane ran him close but he was truely awful in the first half.

Back three did their job against a pretty lively Palace attack. Perisic, quality for Kanes goal, and Doherty both had decent games.

Skipp started lively then gave ball away a few times and lost his way a bit, good to get a run and showed enough to say he can do a job in that middle. PEH was pretty poor throughout game with Sarr coming on for an energetic and quality cameo looking the best of the central mids.

Son was simply awful and the front three were a big part of Palace dominance in first half, their ball retention was woeful. Kane a different player in the second half and Gil had some good moments while still looking lightweight. Son despite nabbing a goal is still miles off the pace.

Kane MoM. 2 good finishes

8 Lloris made a couple of vital saves. I wish he'd catch rather than punch crosses
8 Doherty fully involved and regularly got in the box. Took his goal well
7 Romero Looked solid, good passing and joined the attack 2nd half
7 Dier looked solid
6 Lenglet. OK but players seem to pass him too easily
7 Perisic a threat going forward and lovely cross for 1st goal. Should have scored when his shot was blocked
5 PEH when pressured in possession regularly loses the ball. Always puts the effort in but not quite good enough
5 Skipp Same applies. Homegrown but when closed down will generally lose possession. Squad player at best
8 Gil links play very well and always looks to progress ball. Had a hand in 3 goals and ball for Kane's 2nd was inch perfect.
9 Kane Neither goal was easy but he took both brilliantly
6 Son Poor until he scored but after goal his control and confidence soared
Subs
7 Sarr looked calm and composed. Can getting around the pitch comfortably
Other subs too little time

7 Conte must have said something positive at half-time. Shame he couldn't give Slence 10 mins at the end

Unfair comment on Skipp. He showed many moments last season that he was our best midfielder. He’s had horrid luck with injuries and has hardly started any games. I think a little rustiness can be forgiven. He is still very young. Hopefully he is now fit and with more game time he will return to form.

However I do agree that he started brightly, but struggled later in the game. That said, I thought PEH wasn’t great either. Gave the ball away countless times and on more than a few times didn’t track back, often leaving Skipp isolated.

As everyone else has said Kane motm quite easily and big call-out for Gil who was a menace to palace throughout the game.
I would also point out Romero
So much talk of players coming back from the World Cup drained but he looks fit as a fiddle. He was the first player chasing out from defence so many times and I was amazed to see him chasing down their keeper a couple of times
Great result and second half performance was excellent
Sarr looked very confident on the ball and seemed to have time time when he got the ball, always a sign of a very good player.
And huge shout out to our away supporters- was incredible to hear them in such good voice.

Decent performance. Kane was obviously MOTM but it was good to see Gil and Lenglet have imo their best games for us.
Romero has been very good since returning and I also thought Skipp started well yesterday but died off as the game went on. He looked tired and that's probably a mix of lack of game time and maybe the injuries he has had

Kane did what he needs to do more often and lifted the team in the second half. Clearly he should be motm but I am giving it to Gil who, contrary to it seems many peoples expectations, showed some real skill, creativity and made an impact on the game

Only one candidate really for MOM .
The form of PEH is a bit worrying with the Woolwich midfield to contend with soon, hopefully he will improve with Bendy back alongside him. Maybe Conte could put an extra body in midfield with Sarr who was pretty impressive when he came on.
