Didn't see us getting 80 points and finishing second without being beaten at the Lane in the league at the start of the season! Well done lads!

Lloris - 5 Bloody awful kicking
Trippier - 7 Enterprising forward play, looked vulnerable against Martial
Toby - 6 Mind seemed elsewhere at times
Verts - 7 Usual attacking verve, unlucky with deflection for goal
Davies - 7 As mentioned by Tyler, we haven't really missed Rose too much
Dier - 7 The usual confident performance
Wanyama - 8 Very balanced in defence and attack
Eriksen - 8 Restricted by Tuanzebe, deadballs were usually formidable
Alli - 8 Some excellent skill and hunger. Noted how he decided to play safe in last minute and not seek glory
Son - 7 Inventive, but lax finish first half
Kane - 8 A gem

Dembele - 6
Walker - 7
GKN - 7

Lloris - 6 - Absolutely fine. Not too much to do really. Sweeped decently.

Trippier - 6 Made a poor mistake for their goal. Got forward okay was always a choice on the overlap

Toby -6 Did his job alright not at his best though

Verts - 7 Love how confident he is going forward. Couple of sloppy passes aside.

Davies - 7 He is such an intelligent disciplined player. Rarely puts a foot wrong but lacks a cutting edge going forwards.

Dier - 8 Slipped bck into the midfield effortlessly dominate with Wanyama Beside him.

Wanyama - 8 First to all the 50/50s and scored the goal. Seems to be more confident with his passing as well. A few lovely cutting attempted passes. More of them will come off at some point.

Eriksen - 8 Good preformance. Excellent set piece delivery. His best season for us but he needs to start next season with the same verve. He can take a while to find his form.

Son - 7 Energetic but not particularity effective. Offers pace and guile going forward.

Dele - 7 Seemed more stuck on the left then normal, Lots of dribbles most didnt come off. Still won us a lot of fouls one which lead to the goal and was a general nuisance.

Kane - 7 Scored a lovelly little goal and drifted wide often. A little too eager at times his decision making wasnt at its best but some selfishness is acceptable.

Dembele - 6 Came on and did okay. Not enough time to really make an impact and united had a lot of the ball (but rather bluntly) after he came on.

Walker - 7 Lovely clearing header at the end was good for the short time on. Very professional the way he has dealt with being dropped. Thought he got a lot of unfair stick vs west ham when other players were equally bad just saw less of the ball.

Nkoudou - 5 Didnt show us much. Had one good run but pulled the ball to wide to make the most of the chance. Seen so little of him despite offering us some real pace.

Kane for me. Thought his hold up play was terrific at times with some intelligent passing. Great finish

I know Toby didn`t have his best game, but -6 is a little strict, no?

I thought Vertonghen was excellent as was Alderweireld and Wanyama.
Gave it to Toby as I worry about him.

Beautiful Noise

Sometime in the mid-late seventies, a scrawny kid patrols Tottenham High Road, there's that soon to become familiar quietness around What Hart Lane just after a game has kicked off, the hustle and bustle has been sucked off the streets and into the ground and all that's left behind is an eerie silence as newspaper swirls in gutters, the smell of water burgers and people like program sellers, who's jobs are now finished scuttling away. Out of a doorway steps a man in a shabby raincoat, "ere kid, wan a ticket, fiver". Sweet fucking music. I run up to the turnstile, I've missed 10 minutes at least but that doesn't matter, today, finally, I'm getting my first taste of WHL. I arrive into the old Archie Leach West lower, in the corner where it joins the south lower, right where the old glass tunnel used to be where the players come out. Before I'd even properly glimpsed the players or pitch the atmosphere hits me like a tidal wave, a cacophony of emotions, hostility, joy, anger, bliss, despair being transmitted from mouths and from the contorting gesticulating bodies of 50,000 (mostly) men all around. Beautiful noise.

The opponent that day was Manchester United. I remember nothing at all of the game except we lost 1-2. I think the was the score anyway. Call me a fuzzy old sentimentalist, but it gave me a funny little glow in my ball sack that my last game at WHL saw us beat Manchester United 2-1. Sometimes, very rarely, life is sweet that way eh.

The atmosphere today was special. All game the crowd were relentless, never let up, it took me back to great days, old days when the shelf would be in full flow. It's been a long time since the place rocked like that, back when the shelf was like Liverpool's kop, this huge whole side of standing fanatics. Even a cynical old **** like me couldn't help but get a tingle today, I'm so glad I made it.

And with more sweet irony, just like my first taste of WHL, it will be the atmosphere of that last game that will stick with me long after the game's memories have faded. Beautiful noise.

The game itself didn't disappoint, especially the first 45 minutes, we were right at it. I still do not understand why Poch is playing Dier in CM, with him and Wanyama there, there is no-one to pick out clever runs the forwards make, the progression can be somewhat predictable, and surely Trippier would have been so much more effective in the 3421 as a wing back. But that said, our aggression and tempo as a team was good, Wanyama was hunting and gathering and driving forwards, Eriksen was popping up everywhere, our player of the season putting in another virtuoso performance, and after spurning some great opportunities the goal when it came was fitting the occasion, a delicious cross from Davies was met by Wanyama, leaping and hanging in the air then powering it home emphatically with his head. It was an explosive goal that triggered an explosive reaction from the crowd, the type of celebration usually saved for goals that arrive later and decide things.

More chances and situations were created and wasted. But we didn't wait long after the restart to get the second, Another delicious cross, this time a free kick from Eriksen was deftly tapped home by Kane.

The rest of the game was a bit of a blur, more chances came and went, we got a bit careless, but effort and desire never dropped. ManU seemed to score with their only real threatening moment. Or that's the way it felt to me, but then I was stoned on the beautiful noise.

Individual

Lloris - His distribution is fucking piss poor sometimes and he's got to get to grips with it. Playing it out to a defender stood on the edge of the box with a man up his arse is bananas.

Trippier - Poor for the goal. Other than that they didn't get behind us once that I remember. I didn't think he offered loads going forward today but at least he threw the ball to team mates at throw ins.

TA - Decent enough.

JV - Good game generally.

Davies - Some sloppy passes at times but decent generally and put in a nice cross for the first.

Dier - Steady, reliable but ponderous and un-incisive in possession.

Wanyama - Busy. Very good game.

Son - Lively.

Alli - Worked hard and was very involved, wish he'd not waste so many situations with poor initial touch or attempted frippery though.

Eriksen - Outstanding game, was popping up all over the place, runs his absolute bollocks off as well, he's even winning aerial balls these days as well.

Kane - Good shift, nice to see off WHL with a winning goal too.

Walker - Imperious.*

One of the things that struck me in this match were how deeply Eriksen and Dele were dropping to get the ball - they seemed to take turns dropping back, but it was definitely a concerted effort to get the ball, and not to have to rely on Dier and Wanyama to move the ball through the mid-field. It seems that Poch is learning from the early season problems we had when Dier and Wanyama partner the midfield.

Did you notice that Eriksen was initially getting man-marked in the first half? It seemed like Tuanzebe gave up because Eriksen's movement/intelligence was too good.

I didn't fully blub but I was very emotional, welled up as 'Can't smile without you' came on and really struggled to leave. Closest I came to balling my eyes out was when Sharon, who is an old lady in my block and has seen me since I was a tiny little boy who didn't know what he was a part of, gave me a big hug and a kiss just before I left. Still very emotional now.

By lunchtime Monday I'll be in Capri for one of my close mates birthday, late on Saturday my family welcomes a new baby boy, this is the most emotional thing to happen to me this week, he'll probably this decade. Thankfully the players didn't let us down and United were lucky to finish this game with their goal difference still in the positives.

Lloris barely had a thing to do, distribution ranged from the cool to the chaotic.

Trippier got forward okay by he was target by United for most of their attacks and their goal came from him being beaten too.

Toby was fine, but sloppy with his headers.

Vertonghen was a giant, again, but perhaps should have done a better job on their goal.

Davies was very good. Great cross for their goal, brought the ball out very well and really stretched them. Much improved from the player who can in two months ago.

Wanyama was imperious, and bar a few sloppy passes just ran the midfield.
Lovely headed goal.

Dier was strong in the air, put the stoppers on Mata and Rooney well and distributed well.

Eriksen was great, knitting things together well and got a clever assist. Clearly shattered towards the end.

Alli was a driving force goal forward, always positive in his running and very determined to make things happen, bit decisions weren't great at key moments.

Son linked well with Davies, kept their defenders guessing with his runs and was a constant threat, but he should have buried his chance and definitely had a few selfish moments.

Kane played some exceptional passes, held the ball well, led from the front and scored a lovely goal. Should've buried his header but I reckon De Gea's oncoming fist made him blink.

Dembele should have come on earlier but he helped us dampen United's increasing presence in the game and hold the ball higher up.

Walker coming on was the end of United threatening at all.

Nkoudou had one real moment and fluffed his lines a tad with a poor touch wide.

The fans.

But everyone was a 10. I bloody love this club so much. I love everything about it. My heart is broken that the Lane will be no more. But in my head I knew it was time. We needed a new stadium to take that next step. And we wont just have a new stadium. We'll have the best stadium in the world. And it will be our home for the next 100 or so years.

Jesus, I didn't to be honest, I didn't exactly have my best tactical head on, but if he was, he did such a bad job it was hard to notice.

But to be fair Eriksen was exceptional today, it's not like marking Hazard who only wants to get on the ball in certain situations, Eriksen is so much more assiduous than Hazard.

If you watch the first half again it's very obvious in the early stages.

I wish he'd learnt not to play Dier there.
