I didn't realise this. Maybe we can cut him a little less slack now. Respect:

Naughton fast becoming the new Jenas on SC.

Personally don't think he's as bad as is made out. Yes poor performance last night, but generally this season he's been solid but unspectacular.

Chiriches and Vertonghen failed to drop off every time the Sheriff midfielders had time on the ball which resulted in all sorts of trouble in the first half. SC reaction? Chiriches is a contender for MoM, and Naughton takes the crap. As per usual.

I dunno about that, the centre backs had a tough time coping when they broke. From what I was watching it was often the problem that they countered and we had committed too many men forward in attack. The centre mids and fullbacks in particular were often stranded wrong side of the ball and not matching the desire/workrate to get forward of the Sheriff players in getting back themselves.

I thought Naughton had a fairly poor game - caught out position, not offering an attacking threat, some poor passing and sometimes a little lazy with the ball, and lost his man a little too easily.

I think by his standards, he fell short, and that was very disappointing because his role should be to fill and be reliable, and if he can't do that then others (like Smith) should be given a go.

Can anyone remember what his performances for Norwich on loan were like when he played regularly? While he hasn't set the world on fire when he's come in, it probably is difficult to find top form when just playing the odd game here & there and stepping up a level. Didn't the Sheffield utd fans rate him as the better of the two kyle's?

His performances at Norwich were on the whole consistently solid and good. He is fast but doesn't have the blistering pace that Walker has. He is more defensively minded and more like a Zabaleta. He does cop a lot of flack for his performances but we all have to remember that he is a right back playing on the left. I'm quite happy with him being a backup to walker and rose competing with another at left back (fryers needs a loan because he could become a really good player)

Tbh of the little i've seen of Fryers, he deserves Naughton's spot in the squad. Already looks a better player
Twice the player. Twice the potential/scope for development.

Will be a very good utility defender.

He's actually a CB and not a LB, let's see if AVB susses it. Not sure why Manure wanted to mould him into a LB tbh. Odd imo.

I know exactly what we need to do - threaten to sell him.

Then see him rise up mysteriously, gain 50 yards of pace, a brain, two feet and an eye for 40 yard goals.

It worked for Bale and Dawson, right?
