In the Daily Mail today Michael Walker picked his greatest Northern Ireland team and in Goal he picked Elisha Scott who played in the 1920s There is no way he could have ever seen him play and I doubt that there are many films of him.
He didn't pick the great Pat who he must have seen and IMHO was not only the best Irish keeper but also the best keeper I have ever seen.
Shoddy journalism if you ask me..

And 31 caps to Pat's 119...

Rather odd choice, is there something more to this Elisha Scott's story? Did he only have one arm or something?

Michael Walker picked his greatest Belfast born Northern Ireland team. Pat was born in Newry not Belfast. That is the only reason he's picked Elisha Scott ahead of Pat.

Soooooo, there isn't a media-wide conspiracy against THFC is what you're saying?

No of course not. In fact he picked Danny Blanchflower in his choice of eleven best Belfast born Northern Ireland players.

Perhaps the most specific "best of" team to be published? Was this in the Belfast Gazette or something and the Heil just "aggregated" it?

Regarding the number of caps, bear in mind that there were far fewer Internationals played in the 1920's, that would certainly account for at least some of the difference if not all. It would be interesting to know how many matches NI played during each of their careers.
