Seriously this needs to be the top priority in the summer. Walker can be a quality player but the rest are just poor.

Rose and Naughton simply arent good enough, even as backups tbh. Just so thick and cost us goals left right and center.

Rose and Naughton are more than OK as backups...Rose was awesome in the second half and Naughton's been one of our best players over the past month - yes he had two big mistakes today, I think we can excuse him...he also provided the cross for our first goal. They also count towards the homegrown/club trained criteria, so it's not easy to ship them off.

A first choice left back, or at least someone to give Rose competition, is a priority, yes. But they both have their place in the squad, and to say both aren't good enough to be backups is ridiculous. We're fifth with Rose starting and Naughton playing LB/RB fairly often.

Naughton has been directly responsible for 3 goals in 4 games, those are just the ones I can remember. He is nearly costing us a goal a game. Its outrageous.

Alright then, we ship off Naughton and Rose. Tell me the starting LB, backup LB, and backup RB we buy then, as a Europa League club. And who do we add in as new HG and club trained players, especially with Lennon likely off?

Walker's also a liability tbf, but best we have at this point.

I don't trust tim to fix the weaknesses we have. He's shown too much trust/faith in mediocrity when we have better in the squad.

Need to go back to basics and buy actual defenders. Players who can be improved in an attacking sense but are defensively solid.

Anyway. Get BAE back as one of the LBs. Shaw in as the other. Buy a good young British RB as backup to Walker but who is both ability and potential-wise better than Naughton.

Honestly i think Naughton was just fatigued today, he's played 3 or 4 games back to back which for him is unusual and he was bound to have a bad game at some point. Now that we are out of the EL and we have a full week to prep and recover i am sure we'll see better performances from our players.

Naughton made 2 dreadful errors but I thought Rose was even worse. The number of times he loses the ball or gets caught out of position and then strolls back drives me mental. He has made it clear he won't be happy to be a squad player and he is nowhere near the quality we need as first choice so he has to go.

We've been linked with several left backs ... any of Shaw (slim chance), Blind, Kolarov, Rodriguez, Davies and so on would be massive upgrade on calamity Rose.

Walker was awful last year and didn't even spend time out injured. Rose deserves to be given another season. I'd be very happy if we signed a quality left back though

He was LB at the Lane vs Benfica no? We've all agreed that he is shite as a LB but he has put some decent performances at RB. I wrote this in another thread , i think naughton has to be one of the mentally strongest players on the team because he's made some errors at LB that could be deflating to his confidence but found a way to fight through that and look decent at RB (his natural position). And from today we saw how his teammates were trying to boost his confidence back after the errors he made which leads me to believe that they see a decent RB he just needs more game time at RB ( preferably more prep time during the week as well).

I dont like Rose playing in our team. Clear he doesnt care, makes many many errors, walks around after like someone else should deal with his mistakes. I dont like his play, dont like his attitude, dont like his effort levels.

Naughton I give life, different story, seems to care and has deserved his chance at right back, assisted a goal ( well almost) and plenty of effort.

I really dislike Rose however.
