Whoever the next Manager is I’d really just like for them to bring a much more positive uplifting cando attitude and energy to the club.

Jose : style of play was dull and negative and he alienated and annoyed a lot of the players and generally he brings a bit of a dark cloud over the clubs he manages or at least he certainly leaves one behind when he goes

Nuno : couldn’t give more than a 30 second interview and every one was monotonous and club spun PR about making us proud, he was well out of his depth tactically and the players or fans didn’t buy into him at all

Conte : 1st season he brought an initial good uplifting energy to the club with his passionate celebrations and touch line behaviour and dragged us from 9th to 4th, he did at times however get very emotional and negative like after the Burnley game. This season ofc he’s had personal issues but we’ve also seen the 2nd/3rd season Conte who blames everyone but himself, makes out his achievements are a miracle, digs out the fans as if the job and club are beneath him, he preaches time and patience whilst not committing to a longer term deal himself and ofc on the whole the style of play has been very boring.

We can see who a positive style of play and a more likeable can do positive manager can galvanise a team and club and drive them forwards, the players and fans enjoy things more, a better atmosphere is built and momentum is built and performances improve.

Poch did that with us, Klopp did it at Liverpool, Arteta is doing it at Arsenal.

So whether the answer is Poch back or De Zerbi or big Ange etc etc I think the new manager HAS to be someone who can bring a much more positive enjoyable vibe on and off the pitch.

This will make the fans and players happy and we will likely play better and achieve more as a result. The fans and club are absolutely crying out for some positivity and that has to start with/from the manager imo.
I think you have to remember what causes these managers to feel negatively before making them solely responsible for the positivity in the club.

I understand that conte is probably walking around with a dark cloud over his head but caused by the perennial refusal to invest in the squad.

same as Jose tbh. poch before him

They were brought in by levy to do a specific job (win anyway possible) but not supported properly to make it happen.

it will be nice to see attacking football but I’ll still be worried that our defence will get caught out with every attack unless we improve it

Kane needs to go in the list as well. He can carry on picking the team but in an official capacity.

Considering this with what other journos like JPB have said + Trix’s comments it does look less and less likely to be Poch

I didn’t say they were solely responsible but I disagree that these managers behave how they do only because they’re not getting huge investment, Jose fell out with all sorts of people at Chelsea & Man.U and Conte leaves every job of his in a dramatic tantrum and generally both of them are just not particularly positive upbeat people.

Poch, Redknapp, Jol all for the most part gave our fans hope and pride and enjoyment that is what we need the new manager to bring.

But yes we also need a few new defenders.

I think Kompany is well worth a gamble and would bring the style of play and positive energy the club needs.

It's probably unrelated, but Gallardo is in London, or was in London last friday.
This girl took a pic with him at Heathrow. He was arriving, not leaving

He’s got a bit of a Poch vibe about him facially and follicly.

This does raises an interesting question. Would it be bad practice to having meetings with potential replacements when Conte is still in charge and hypothetically (even tho we know it’s very very unlikely) could still sign an extension. I’m sure we would sound out targets, we would be amiss not to, but having face to face meetings feels more advanced. I guess it’s a bit of an odd situation as Conte’s contract runs out in a few months so currently there will be a job vacancy. It would be great if we did meet with him whilst he was here, it would probably make sense all things considered, assuming we are interested.

I think in all likelihood we have either decided we want a change in the summer, or Conte has indicated he definitely wants to leave in the summer.
And in both scenarios we are well within our rights to sound out potential replacements...in fact it would be bordering negligent not to start that process, definitelty not bad practice.

I would go a step further - I think its negligent for a Chairman/DOF not to always have a short-list of potential managerial replacements.

It's something that should be done, and then reviewed periodically. We should never have to start a managerial search from scratch.

I don’t mean bad to sound targets out, of course it would be bad not to in our current situation. I just meant actually having face to face meetings more. As said, i really hope we met up with him whilst he was here was just curious what people’s read was if we were meeting potential replacements.

My immediate thought is that he may be going to meet Leeds reps and probably meeting them in London.

But my word I hope its us he's meeting
