I reckon he's got a direct line into Paratici with comments like that.

I might be misremembering but I'm pretty sure Romano mentioned on a stream a few weeks ago that it's really difficult to tell when Paratici is lying to him or giving him truthful info. Wouldn't be surprised if Romano is Paratici's mouthpiece to a certain extent but that doesn't mean it's always truthful, he's just a messenger.

Im not sure the Italian media did anything wrong here per se on this particular link.

We had an interest -true, we enquired - true, but nothing further than that or as they mention "current conditions" i assume the price circa 30M which makes sense. Doesnt mean they were wrong, we all know from Fabio's pattern in player search 10 targets per position of priority.
A number of outlets have said today we were on the verge of agreeing a deal.

Also from Fab, referring to said "current conditions"

On that basis I wonder if we can we say that either we don't think he is worth €30m, we don't have €30m to spend on a midfielder or we think we can get better for that amount?

Im not disagreeing, some people were saying the italian media are annoying and spouting too much crap, i just made the point the italian media did nothing wrong, im not sure you understood my post.
I did understand it, you said nothing beyond 'we enquired' had been mentioned but as I've just said, they went quite a bit further.

I reckon it's a combination of thinking that we can play the game of chicken that they'll agree for significantly less whilst also pursuing better value for money elsewhere in the interim.

I’m convinced the manager search this spring was made into as much of a shitshow simply bc we were dealing with managers in Italy.

Nah half the shitshow took place before Paratici even came in and started looking to Italy tbh. Think that was just a shitshow full stop lol not sure you can blame Italian media.

To me, "Current conditions" phrase means, we are walking away if they are not going to lower the fee. it means , we know Cagliari is not in good position to negotiate knowing, player is anyway on strike.

It really didn't though, it really started once Conte's name came up, which was prior to Paratici. Don't think it would have been as big of a deal if we'd stuck with Prem managers. Every move was blown up in social media by Italian media.

Edit: I'm not saying DL didn't make a meal of it, just think that having a bunch of Italian options made it a five course.

We could do a Man city and offer £5million and get the player to cry like a big baby and refuse to train..... cough(kane)?

Seems to be a case of what CM we feel is the best value deal - Sarr, Aouar, Nandez. Think this one is our Sissoko replacement

More excited by the other links like Sarr, Aouar etc. Seem to provide more creativity and goalthreat compared to Nunez who strikes me as another energetic grafter - bit too similar to Skipp/Hojbjerg for my liking.
