Good, honest interview from Klopp - easy to see why he is popular.
Goes to hide behind the sofa.
I do wonder if the regression of VVD might be a big part of their issues. He was certainly a turning point when he originally came in for them so it wouldn't be completely mental if that worked in the opposite direction now.I’ve always said that the way that Klopp’s teams play requires 100% intensity all the time, and if that level drops by just 5% his whole approach unravels. At the moment, they’re midfield isn’t capable of replicating the intensity the team needs. Half of their midfielders are too old to keep up that energy level and the rest are still developing so they’re not quite good enough. Without that intensity in midfield, the front 3’s own pressing is less effective and without an effective press theyr high defensive line is massively vulnerable.
Add to that that Van Dijk looks a shadow of himself right now and they simply can’t get a stranglehold on games. I don’t see a quick fix looking at the midfielders they have available. However, if any manager in club football right now has earned the opportunity and patience to reinvent/rebuild then surely it’s Klopp.
They've been out of sorts since the end of last season so something really is going on.
I do think that all that chasing and going toe to toe with City is finally catching up with them all.
Their biggest issue is that they don't have the resources City have.
Whilst City can go sign both Rodri and Phillips. They can go sign 4 CBs of high quality for 200m, they can lose Sterling and Jesus and sign Haaland.
They can also sign players and not worry to much of they fail cause they'll just sign another.
Liverpool can't sell Mane and sign a like for like, they have to sign an emerging player and even now they've started to get overcharged (Nunez).
The risk being that this particular player fails and they can't shift them.
Their midfield has needed a big overhaul for 2 years now. They never replaced Wijnaldum or Milner. Thiago was seen as a good capture but he's often injured.
They haven't been able to go out and spend 100m on Bellingham or Tchouameni, or both.
So they are stuck a little.
Before you know it the issues have multiplied and they have more to do than anticipated.
If that happened to City they'd just to and spend another 300m, selling a couple to balance things.
Fabinho is back now and Matip replaced Gomez at half time yesterday but Thiago is still out.Is it not that they are missing their midfield and need players like Jota and Matip back?
I'd love to revel in their demise but I would hold our horses on that just now. You're right about their midfield though. It is a big problem for them.
Yeah, they pretty much walked it through them, without the defenders bothering to react. It was really weird to see.Fabinho is back now and Matip replaced Gomez at half time yesterday but Thiago is still out.
Watching Napoli's second goal back it's shocking how Alexander-Arnold, Fabinho and Gomez just stand completely still and let Zambo play the one-two past them. That's not just a 5% drop in intensity from what Klopp demands, that goal really makes me think something's going terribly wrong there.
They need to bounce back fast.

It was a poor goal for a pub team to concede, let alone Liverpool. Like you said truly weird.Yeah, they pretty much walked it through them, without the defenders bothering to react. It was really weird to see.
I had the misfortune of listening to talksport on the way back. I find cundy and O'hara nauseating with their incessant "bantering".
However, I found it odd to hear liverpool fans defending klopp because his team are tired after playing 65 games last season. They were intimating that the players will be less tired as the season wears on. I'm not sure how that works ?.
Also wouldn't it be klopps responsibility to make sure the players are fresh?
I was listening earlier and they had a guy on saying they are rubbish and how he didn’t care what they done over the last couple of seasons.I had the misfortune of listening to talksport on the way back. I find cundy and O'hara nauseating with their incessant "bantering".

Every club has them, I watched the post match interview Klopp handled the interview well, he will get them back on track, he will eventually have to accept Gomez is like tottenham's sanchezI was listening earlier and they had a guy on saying they are rubbish and how he didn’t care what they done over the last couple of seasons.
He was only interested in the here and now and on that basis he felt Klopp needed sacking.
Just mind blowing the mentality of their supporters!
he will eventually have to accept Gomez is like tottenham's sanchez
And that's why they are eager to get Bellingham as soon as possible. Sadly. Is it not that they are missing their midfield and need players like Jota and Matip back?

I keep hearing about how Liverpool are paupers. Their wage bill is the same as man city's.If Conte won us a CL, PL, FA Cup and Carabao cup and got us competing at the top table, I think he would have a lot of credit in the bank. Klopp clearly has that and think there is loyalty involved. Liverpool and us are very similiarly run and we dont have the riches of the others. Klopp has done a great job there and id like to think that everyone deserves an opportunity especially with credit in the bank, to turn things around. Its one of the things Alex Ferguson was great at - refreshing the squad and keeping things ticking
What I find slightly strange though is that theyre lauded as having great recruitment, no doubt its good recruitment but they do have a few players who are so questionable - Keita, Oxlaide, Nunez I think at 80m is highly questionable (although slightly early to be judged conclusively) - that is a lot of money overall.
Like everyhing there is a cycle and hope its the end of theirs as their fans have been insufferable for the last few years
