Spurs man, did a good job as Wimbledon manager and was definitely a character up at Newcastle.

Kinnear and Knowles, that was a good pairing, for ten years. Hard to imagine these days. And they won a FA Cup, two League Cups and a UEFA Cup. Sadly that is hard to imagine these days as well. RIP Joe.

He was our right back when I started supporting the team in 1967. I recall he was mentioned in Hunter Davies's, The Glory Game as one of the few batchelors in the side and Gilly's drinking partner ?

It was clear there was something up when he did that infamous press conference at Newcastle. A real shame because I remember his Wimbledon teams well and he always seemed a character.

Spurs legend, his presence at The Finale of the Lane was good to see. Although I think those 6 games in a row his Wimbledon team played against Ginola's Spurs made him a bit sick of us for a bit

RIP

It’s a generational thing. To many he’s the former Wimbledon manager; to a few on here, he was a cracking little right back who, together with England, Beal and Knowles formed a fantastic back four in front of Jennings.

Yes in hindsight after his diagnosis it's easy to see that those were the first signs of his faculties failing him. Those clips we laughed at are just sad now.

Sad news.

I met Joe once in his days as assistant manager at Wimbledon. We were at Club Med in the Algarve. They were on a mid-season break, we were on a company thing. Really nice fella. Modest, unassuming, great company and stood his round - no side to him.
He will be missed.

I’m well out of the age demographic but my dad (could be the Irish connection) always made sure I knew that Kinnear was Spurs first and foremost. I never forgot that. RIP Joe
