ive just come back from the pub.... saw the result... thought "ok, at least we didnt lose, but the knee jerk threads will be out in force. Not what i need when im going to be glued to SC all day tomorrow". The i saw this thread, and saw red. "another "the only good chairmen are the ones that constantly spend billions" rant", i thought. With vitriol and bile in my fingers, i marauded into this thread, ready to let rip... AND...

...Saw what you did there. Bravo meat curtains, bravo. I even had a little laugh. You're officially on my "nice SC-ers list". (y)

At the moment I think he is Marmite! You either love him or like a growing number of people think he has taken the club as far as he can.

even thought i'm not happy sometimes with leaving deals so late & it's seem we always have over-options in such positions and very short in other (not balanced squad) .. but i'm more than happy since he isn't risking the future of club.

2009-2010 was the greatest ever apart from King/Woodgate injuries. Let's look there

GK: Gomes Cudicini Alnwick
RB: Corluka Hutton Walker(loaned with option to be recalled) Naughton (loaned)
LB: Ekotto Bale
CB: King Woodgate Bassong (Corluka)
CM: Palacios Huddlestone Jenas (Modric)
RM: Lennon Bentley
LM: Modric Kranjcar (Bale)
CF: Defoe Keane Paveluchenko Crouch

* in Jan. we signed Kaboul, suggested by Daniel Levy (as Redknapp said) who covered RB, CB & DM. When Keane loaned, he signed Gudjohonson.
* He also tried to get Begovic from Portsmouth, deal collapsed as the player saw Pletikosa in medical room (if i'm not mistaken, deal didn't happen for Pletikosa in that time as well) and in that time Carlo was injuried for 8-9 months after accident?
* we missed Modric at the start of the season vs Birmingham, then Niko came on and did more than well.
* Eidur Gud also did his part

looking back at CL season, changed in system happened, from 4-4-2 to 4-4-1-1, the arrival of VDV was so good, but we've also Pienear & Niko, all are better as AM in that system, i think two plus Modric was more than enough, but somone backup for Bale or can push Lennon was needed. I think we struggled in last games without Bale (after Adam injury) as well as Lennon was really out of form, fielding VDV out of position wasn'y good. You might feel if we pushed CM ( Parker ) or striker than what we have in that time ( Defoe - Crouch - Pav ) we could did a lot better vs Madrid. The players who costs us in that time, feilding Jenas, Missing Lennon & Crouch. Those positions were we should be after in that time.

the story of last season as well can be remembered by you, as well as this summer.

Sigurdsoon, Dembele & Dempsey.. all can play as AM in 4-4-1-1, as well as Falque, but still lack of backup for Lennon/Bale/Ade costs us some vital points at the start of the season. Almost vs Reading at home when we missed Bale, and playing Sigurdsson out of position.

He has made us a prem top 4/ 5 club..consistantly now.
He has worked tirelessly to get us a new stadium..fingers crossed very soon.
He has never jeopardized our club financially whilst trying to achieve the 2 above...

you decide if he is a good chairman.....yes he could splash out on a shiny new decent striker, please!!
But only after he has gone will he fully get the credit he deserves..

Yes he's a good chairman there's no doubt about that. However he needs to sort out our scouting department and have better advisers. It seems at the moment he's running things by himself and making all the moves in the transfer market and it's not going to take us to a higher lever than the one we're on. But it's clear the lad loves the club and he'd do anything to see it prosper. He's also very responsible which means we won't ever end up like a leeds.
