How can anyone not ❤ Hugo? Captain of the World Cup winners and recipient of the Ordre national de la Légion d'honneur.

Our best 'keeper since Ray Clemence.

Premier League ‘records’ are bullshit. Football didn’t start in 1992.

MotD were on it on Sunday night too with Michael Antonio equalling Paula Di Canio’s ‘record’ of 47 Premier League goals. Forget Hurst, Cottee, Brooking etc.

Great player that he’s been for us, Hugo hasn’t equalled any records.

Yep, utter nonsense.

I take comfort in the fact that the 'Premier League' will eventually be old hat and the new shiny league will simply ignore those records too.

But he has. They are only looking at the premier league only, so these 'bullshit' records are correct.

No one is saying football didn't start before 1992 when the premier league started, they are just looking at the stats for that league only.

People making that complaint may have failed to notice that the PL has been going 30 years.

It has been going as long as the same number of years now, as it is between our last league title and when the PL started.

So Anderton wasn't quite as injury prone as people have made him out to be (although he certainly had some issues in this area).

He played 12 seasons for us and averaged 30 games a season (average of 25 league games a season).

As a comparison, Roy Keane played 12 full seasons at Man Utd and averaged 40 games a season, but only 29 league games a season.

And this was at a time when Spurs were pretty crap and had almost no European football. So Anderton's numbers would have been 4 or 5 games higher, on average per season if we were in Europe.

That said, I'm guessing Keane was also probably suspended for a few games a season too, so that needs to be factored in.

All in all, Anderton had injury problems but as with most myths, there's a foundation of truth that gets blown out of proportion.

Anyway....

Well done Hugo (y)

Dazza actually only had 2 seasons where he hardly played, due to his hernia op.

If that hadnt happened, there was a good choice he'd have signed for Man U, seeing as at his peak he was better than Beckham.

Things could have been very different.
