If we announced tomorrow that Conte has signed a 1 year extension for next season, would anyone actually be pleased about that right now?
I'd be down about it.

I want to enjoy football again. Had four years of negative anti football and if fourth is the sum of our ambitions which it feels like it is, then I'd at least like to enjoy the games.

Can I ask then how do you know who we wanted and didn't want? I guess the same journalists who said we wanted Bastoni... And If we don't trust journalists then at least you should ask Bastoni and his agent when you can find multiple quotes saying he loves Inter and wants to stay there
Because club usually prefers to sign someone younger? Becuase club usually doesn't sign players on loan(especially without buy option)? Because club usually doesn't go for players who are clearly on big downward trajectory like Lenglet was? And then you have Conte who prefers more experienced, coming from big clubs that you can say have winning mentality etc? His transfer window at Inter in 19/20 is perfect example of this.

Last season we were 3rd in goals scored with 60 goals in 28 matches and 18% of goals were set pieces. Now we are fourth with 46 goals after 26 games and 30% of our goals came from set pieces. So we are clearly much worse in open play?
There really isn't that much difference in our defence in those two seasons. And it's mostly coming just from Lloris regression at shot stopping.

Or it's not a coincidence Arsenal improved their attack, put trust into their youth, played even more front football and that allowed them to also improve defensively. Something that Conte isn't doing
Yh you're right. But neither do you, thats the whole point.

Our league results are identical to what they were after the same amount of games last season.

Seeing as a key member of a coaching staff has died, Conte’s enforced absence, key injuries at key times as well as the manager not given the tools he needed to make notable improvements, another top 4 finish and a CL quarter final at least, should be seen as progress by almost standing still, given how most other teams around us have strengthened. Liverpool, Newcastle and Brighton are the teams to watch, but we need to play them all yet - albeit 2 of them away from home.

Theres no doubts that our football has been poor for the vast majority of the season, but if Conte comes back revitalised and ready to do the business, there’s no need for us to throw the towel in just yet. The Forest and Southampton games are vital, and must be 6 points.

Stay behind the team, including our manager, until all is lost. I’m willing to stick the boot in where needed (not the manager) at the end of the season, but not yet.
100% but we have to win on wednesday to keep fans onside , PL we can't make 4th as we won't win as many games as Liverpool + we got to play them , that door slammed shut yesterday at wolves, if we get thro milan we'll see who we get next

Got to a very strange point where i'd take Europa league because we have a bit more of a chance of winning it...although Levy would ensure thats sucked out of the player to focus on the league...

You say that now and I feel the same way but when we eventually get that (and we will) will that be enough.

I ask this because over the past few months we've all seen a number of people say they don't mind losing if they are entertained by what they watch. I say that's bullshit, it's a fucking great big fib and we'll 100% see that when the time comes. Maybe for a few weeks or so but the worm will turn.

I think we want entertaining football for sure, but whoever gives us that will pretty soon be subjected to 'he's taken us as far as he can' or somesuch, when we don't start to win things. We'll be unhappy for a different reason and 'at least it's entertaining' won't be anywhere on the radar. And i'm not guessing here, we have previous.

God, another miserable bastard post........... this football club really sucks the optimism out of you (n)

I'm going to try to be optimistic for a while :D

About as pleasing as sticking my nutsack in a vice.
Here’s what I remember. The herd thought Poch had lost the players and Jose would get those same players over the line for a trophy. Skip Nuno. The herd wanted Conte and were planning the open top bus routes this May. Now, despite Conte being Conte (and performing a minor miracle in getting us 4th last season, and placing us there again atm) the herd want Poch back or some other flavour of the month (de Zerbi) so we play “entertaining” football. I give it until October. Maybe not even that long.

How many times are we going to drop a bollock in Europe's b leagues before people accept that we won't win them.

Conte is back from Italy, however what should it matter? Our players have been coached to death in that system for 18 months. What do we think is going to happen over the next two? There will be no stark improvement.

Of the two we won only the Chelsea match should be seen as anything above okay...and that's generous considering how poor they'd been.

The FA Cup game and that abomination of a second half against Wolves far out-weigh any pros from two games
2 wins without our manager you mean? What about the City win, where does that measure up? Results are the most important thing and we've still not done that bad results wise. It's not great but also not that bad either to be 4th at this stage. Certainly not sack the manager bad.

No it won't be enough but right now I'll take the positive as Levy is going nowhere.😞

Nope, and I say that as someone who appreciates the football Conte is capable of getting teams playing, because just 1 more year represents nothing but more instability. The club needs a clear long-term strategy, that isn't going to come from one more year of anyone.
