Conte saying this is just infuriating to me

"I want to be honest, I want to be very clear. I have said this to the club, I have said my opinions. The fans deserve the best. Maybe to stay in 5th is the best. Maybe 6th, 7th, 5th or 4th is the best."

Its not like he wasn't backed. Top4 is the minimum expectation for this squad especially after abysmal starts from United & Liverpool.

I get it , Conte is having a go at board to get proper backing. But doesnt sit well with me. I expect more from a Spurs manager

Did he actually say creative players? Part of the issue is that I don't think we're even looking for creative players.

Part of his quote:

"We have different characteristics. We don't have many players who are really good to beat the man. We don't have many creative players in our team. For sure today was really difficult to find space in the first half.

I know it’s probably a second language thing but it’s funny he says “I want to be clear” and then says something very cryptic and vague.

1 question I have for all the people blaming Conte.

Who do we blame in a years time when the new managers losing a lot of games because Lloris, Dier, Davies, Doherty, Hojbjerg etc are making mistakes? And our back up attacking options are Bryan Gil and Lucas Moura?

Yeh he’s saying 5th is the highest we can achieve unless he gets new players.

A clear ultimatum to the board IMO
“We came 4th last year, you gave me lots of money to play with, and now the squad isn’t good enough to come 4th without lots more money.”

I don't care what wider problems there are at the club. I don't care what players are needed. I don't care who he is or what his pedigree is. What we're seeing served up is unacceptable.

We have no idea how to be the games "protagonists", having to have the ball and break down the opposition. It is one thing if we didn't look comfortable playing that way and wasn't our ideal/optimal way of playing, but it is another thing altogether when you flounder so much and are clueless how to even attempt to go about your work. There is nothing to us, bar one off passes with no reason to them, no tempo changes, no possession rotations and combinations, no ideas, no movement, no structure, no nothing. We shuffle the ball around safely and then a) spray it long over the top or b) go out wide and sling in a hopeful cross.

For a team to go out and look that clueless and badly coached and with basically zero idea for a possession game is absolutely not good enough. It applies for any team, with any manager, at any level, and Conte shouldn't get a free pass. It deserves a fuckload of criticism, especially when they're getting paid £15million a year to serve it up.

Plan A - sit, soak, some up-back-throughs to get out, and then attack space with your elite players - might have a track record of delivering, but teams have worked it out. If we can't adapt then it is game over.

Ultimately as a club we need a manager to develop at least a couple of players into gamechangers rather than expect everthing to be solved in the market. Conte just doesn’t seem to be willing or able to do it at this stage of his career.

This, to me, is a decision that has to be made in the next day. If we are not going to back Conte, then let's part ways now. If we are going to commit to Conte - he has to sign a new deal. If he is not willing to make that commitment, then we need to move on.

Regardless of whether Conte stays or goes - it's borderline criminal we do not have a RWB already signed this month. Its a position in need of upgrade no matter the manager.
Exactly.

Too much doubt.

Will Conte stay?
What kind of coach do we want if he goes?
What kind of players are we signing? Prospects Or ready made winners?
What right back do we want?

The club need to remove all doubt and commit to a plan.

Because appointing Conte and saying you want to win only to sign young prospects is not a consistent strategy

Because his style of play invites mistakes. We have 3 chances per game so it's only working when Son/Kane/Kulusevski are firing (which happened last season) - absolutely not the case now. By being so passive on the other side its likely a mistake happens.

In such a quandary over the current situation. Wouldn’t be upset for conte to go give the terrible football however we can’t keep sacking managers and allowing this board to get away with it. Maybe giving conte the money he seems to need in order to coach may be a mistake however sacking him and bringing in yet another levy scapegoat is just as bad, if not worse

To me it looks like a number of things are wrong.

Conte not committing to us.
Levy not backing Conte properly.
Our better players coming to the end of their cycle therefore gone stale.
Levy wanting a project manager but Conte being a win now manager.
His fluttering eyes and love struck heart towards Poch.

The whole clubs needs an overhaul, the board need to go but unfortunately Conte does to because he won’t stick around and isn’t the right man for a real build.

Things need to change now because this season could get very ugly.

We have Arsenal and Man City twice in our next 5 league games, Palace away and Fulham away the other two.
We haven’t won a London derby this season.

I honestly don’t see how Conte survives this.

Our rivals have improved under new managers new players as well though, and they're performing to a higher level.

The level of investment in summer and last January needs to be consistent to achieve things. Not only that but the investment needs to in the right players. For a long time we've spent poorly

Just back from the game, our squad looks poor, but I think conte also needs to take some blame.

His got to play to our strengths more, and use some of our younger players.

No idea how we lost, villa where poor but we need to impose ourselves more on teams.

The football is painful to watch! I sit there wondering how we will score a goal these days!
