I've not really been following it but is it as of now a straight knockout competition?

Also will all of Liverpool's games be moved as a result or do they have to take the pain like the rest?

They still have to finish the group stages, but Liverpool will go into the knockout stage at the round of 32.

They've changed the format a bit from the last few years. Instead of a group of five with each team playng eachother once, it's a group of four with each team playing each other twice. There's one more week of fixtures. Same with the Champions League.

Benfica have looked shit hot in the few games I've seen them in it, so hopefully they get Liverpool at some stage or another.
