Could this work at home in the PL?

I think against most teams in the league we should be playing 2 strikers at home, if we went with 3 at the back with Kaboul/Thudd/Wilson in front of them to protect/receive/break up/ bring the ball out/ hit an early ball out to midfield, the number 5 being dependent on our opponent.

6/7 as wing backs, Lennon doesn't get enough praise for his defensive work IMO with Bale on the left, if the opponent has a tricky winger you use Hutton or Benny instead of Lennon or Bale so we still keep an attacking threat and pace but with a bit more protection on that wing.

8/9 Rafa and Luka both can drop deep and receive the ball under pressure both can play a killer pass either out to the wing or through the middle so one stays high one drops deep and both work their barbarians off for the team.

10/11 Defoe and Pav i believe is our strongest pairing each creates space for the other.

At home we should go 4-4-2

BAE- DAWSON - KABOUL-HUTTON
BALE - MODRIC- VDV - LENNON
DEFOE - PAVLYUCHENKO

given the "strikers" we currently have, I think we have to be playing two with vdV in the team. I think we should line up as we did in the second half against Arsenal at the emirates, with Defoe and either Crouch or Pav up front, with Lennon on the bench and vdV playing a free role

It could work well at home against some of the lower 'park the bus and hoof it' teams, but I dont think its the formation we should be playing.

I do like the use of Rafa and Luka as twin attacking mids with Pienaar as backup. I'd personally like to see 4-1-4-1

--------Gomes--------
Hutt-Daws-Gallas-BAE
----Hudd/Wilson-----
Lennon-Rafa-Luka-Bale
---Pav/Crouch/Defoe--

Plus easily enough quality left in the squad for a killer bench.

I thought when i first saw the 4-6-0 formation thread that was madness but I'm coming round to something similar to that now.
If our strikers aren't cutting the mustard we might as well just keep them for impact subs. We operated well enough with no forwards against Villa.

I think VDV behind Defoe still needs a few more games

TBH, I think our best line up is still:

-----Hudd---Modric---

Lennon---VDV---Bale

--------Defoe------

I'd love to see this team in action though:

----------------Gomes--------------

Kaboul---Woodgate---Dawson---Bale

-----------Diarra---Hudd-------------

--------VDV---Modric---Marin--------

--------------Benzema---------------

You'd have Kaboul and Bale bombing foward, along with VDV, Modric and Marin all interchanging their postions

Pretty damn sexy to me :hump:
