I hope the boys can pull out a repeat of Dier's comments last season before the city game at home and specifically "I hear people say stuff about Tottenham and I don’t like it. I don’t think the other lads like it either"
I say this because right now, every fan of every club, including us, is saying what a bunch of pussy'ole bottle jobs they are. I hope they are exposed to every pundit, journalist, fan, ex-pro etc and whatever criticism they (rightly) get at this present moment, and use it to fuel them to a bounce back performance against the chavs.
Last night they did nothing to dispel the myth that we are a soft touch. If we can show the passion and aggression of last season, but show we have learnt from the headloss and actually pull out a result that would be a way to show the fans that they deserve our faith and support.
The complete lack of passion, aggression, positivity and fighting spirit really showed, and if that's the case, with players like Alli it doesn't matter how many nice touches or nutmegs you get, you're not going to win matches at the top level. I don't expect Wimmer or Trippier to smash a 40 yarder into the top corner but the bare minimum I expect is for them to put a foot in when needed and not shy away or shirk tackles.
If that lack of fight is evident on Saturday we are going to be in for a long and embarrassing night.
