Evening all,

Since about midway last season i refused to play on the PS3 after wednesday 23.59 or 3 days before a match and we did quite well, so i carried it on until after the 'pool game and changed it to one day before and we lost to Man U and Chelsea so i switched back, i played before the Man U CC game thinking i was getting stupider and we lost and ran over to 00.01 before we played Stoke and Wolves and we lost, so i really want to play COD but i'll be breaking my own abstaining rules.

Do I risk it? I know it sounds soft but it's got to me now  and i think i'm nuts...

I'm willing to run the risk of embarrassment on this one, if you like i'll run the risk against Posh and switch back against 'pool

Please tell me i'm not alone in being superstitious

Merry New Year

Happy New Year everybody!

Fridgemagnet, in relation to your post ...... I'm glad I'm not the only overly superstitious nut case out there!

For home games, I make sure I'm wearing the same jeans, same jumper, same t-shirt, heck even the same socks. I always have a BK before the match, try to get the same train and enter the stadium using the same turnstile - even as far as using the same toilet cubicle.

For away games, if I'm not going, I make sure I'm at least wearing my spurs shirt whilst the team are playing!

In any case, for all matches, I have to read the Sky and BBC match predictions!

In my experience, on the days that I've gotten the train to N'humberland Park and not WHL = team has lost. On the days I've had a McDs instead of BK = team has lost. On the days I've not worn the same jeans = team has lost. I can't help it!!!!!

And if you think that is bad, my sister is pretty much the same, except she doesn't want to know the match predictions and must get her programme from the same programme seller at home games!

How OCD is that?

I'm ridiculously superstitious when it comes to Spurs too. Don't know why, because I know it doesn't have any effect on the team, but I always feel coming up to a match that my actions do have some sort of effect.

I only wear my 06/07 away jersey when we're playing in the late game on a Saturday or Sunday. Home jersey 07/08 for the rest.

Got this seasons away jersey for Christmas. Going to put it into use for the first time tomorrow. If we lose, don't blame me.

Always get up, have a cuppa tea, watch Football Focus and Gillette Soccer Saturday, and, if I log in to SC, I have to stay on until the game is over. Against Everton this season, I logged off when we went 2-0 up, so I take the blame for us only getting a point. :-(

Also, I had a background on my desktop of Robbie Keane, and changed it before the Wolves game, we lost. I changed it back to Robbie Keane, we've not lost since.

people don't realise all the important work he does in the background. he plays a vital role behind the program icons and file shortcuts, err i mean behind the scenes at spurs.

I don't think the actions of a football fan or group of football fans can have an effect on the performance of 11 men who do not even know them (aside direct vocal support in stadium and its potential to inspire etc)

Certainly I am not one to believe that the pair of socks or pants I wear can influence the result of a football match...or indeed even the old four tops tape my dad always insisted would make the side win on our way to the ground as a kid.

I am sure everyone has done the old 'If I turn the Tv/radio off now hopefully we'll score' or something to that effect also.

Nonsense? most likely, I'd certainly say it all is....but then little things like that can all be part of the match day experience and go some way towards an indivdual feeling more connected and proactive towards their teams performace. (add something to the football supporting experience perhaps)

I hadn't worn my 07/08 125 home strip with Spanky 14 on the back since the CC final victory until this season when both this season and last seasons shirts were in the wash one day, so i wore it for the game home to wigan... presto... 9-1.

Didn't wear it for 3 games, we took 2 points, wore it v Citeh and Blackburn, we won both (Blackburn watched online admittedly). Didn't wear it v Fulham, draw, wore it v Spammers, we win.

Needless to say I'm wearing it tomorrow.
