I haven't seen much of Fonseca's team except Lille. They are very expansive in their play and very much on the front foot. I like that they have a LOT possession (and play 4-2-3-1 formation that I prefer) but also that they are always looking to do something positive with it, rather than just retaining the ball for the sake of it.

He wouldn't be my first choice, but I can see why he may be being considered

My immediate thought is that he may be going to meet Leeds reps and probably meeting them in London.

But my word I hope its us he's meeting
Let’s hope Garcia really impresses. Personally I feel like he could do a lot better than Leeds but I guess it would show that he’s capable of doing it in the pl.

I don’t mean bad to sound targets out, of course it would be bad not to in our current situation. I just meant actually having face to face meetings more. As said, i really hope we met up with him whilst he was here was just curious what people’s read was if we were meeting potential replacements.
If both club and Conte know he’s leaving at the end of the season, then what can be the harm? It would be negligent not to contact replacements if both parties know he’s off.

Fonseca is a very good coach, Ive stated that earlier as I was watching them give it to PSG.

The problem is his teams are very capable of leaking goals in spells.

This seems to be a barrier that stops him from breaking into the very top teams in the league he is coaching at the time.

Roma hit a wall with him without getting CL football.

Lille are in 5th and whilst football has been great, they are quite far off the pace in comparison to the current top 4.

At Shakhtar they dominated a relatively 2 team league but had some huge defeats in Europe.

At Porto he started well but couldn't keep pace with Benfica and Sporting. Did decent at Braga but nothing out of the ordinary.

I think hes one of those coaches that has the right approach in terms of getting the team to play front football but struggles to win the big tactical battles.

He would have been a damn sight better than Nuno at the time and I think we probably wouldn't have had to turn to Conte although we may not have got 4th last season.

But the point would be that we would have has better continuation if we had fired him.

However, right now there are at least 5 better options than him

Yes we have to be making a list and sounding them out. We should have been doing that in Jan really when he didn’t sign a new contract. I just meant more actually having face to face meetings as that is usually more the next step. And I guess it also depends if Conte had categorically said he’s not staying or just suggested that he probably won’t.

Like I said in my original post. I’m not saying we shouldn’t (I’m hoping Gallardo was here to meet us) just curious on people’s thoughts.

This does raises an interesting question. Would it be bad practice to having meetings with potential replacements when Conte is still in charge and hypothetically (even tho we know it’s very very unlikely) could still sign an extension. I’m sure we would sound out targets, we would be amiss not to, but having face to face meetings feels more advanced. I guess it’s a bit of an odd situation as Conte’s contract runs out in a few months so currently there will be a job vacancy. It would be great if we did meet with him whilst he was here, it would probably make sense all things considered, assuming we are interested.

I don't see a problem with that being as Conte supposedly has a new contract on his desk that he hasn't signed. If he's that reluctant to commit it's only right that we should be sounding out replacements and the World isn't on hold until Conte makes his mind up.

It’s a regular occurrence in the general business environment to hold interviews for a replacement, if someone has already handed in their notice.

Im sure if Conte has said he’s not re-signing, then he will be aware successors will be being sounded out and interviewed.

In most other professions, if someone has said they are leaving, it is not unusual to start interviewing replacements before that person goes. Football differs from most professions, but I still think conducting interviews is reasonable in this case.

It's slightly less straightforward if Conte is still mulling over his options and the club wants to keep him. Nonetheless, the board has to draw a line somewhere - like, say to Conte, if you still have not decided by X date, we will start interviewing potential replacements. So again, I think this is perfectly reasonable.

I don't think the board should wait for Conte to leave the club to start interviews.

I'd like Gallardo but I think it's quite likely Graham Potter gets the elbow at Chelsea. He's had the same problem there as he had at Brighton as in, not having a proper striker. He's also had to deal with Boehly being a dick and landing him with a massive, chaotic squad. I'm sure he's a lot better than it seems at Chelsea and he seems to have been completely ignored in any decision making there.

It's probably unrelated, but Gallardo is in London, or was in London last friday.
This girl took a pic with him at Heathrow. He was arriving, not leaving

This guy is out and about too….I may be reaching but is that yellow advert reference to Levy and Spurs…😂

Graham Potter, I fear would turn out to be AVB.

AVB had done a good job and tried to implement his style at Chelsea and it failed horrendously. Went to Us and tried to do something different.
Had AVB tried to implement a similar style with us, it would have worked better imo. Especially with Bale in the Hulk role and gone with soldado as a poacher only. He tried to do much at spurs and it wasn't clear what he was doing other than bale doing everything

Potter imo, would second guess himself after not getting Chelsea players to buy in to his philosophy at Chelsea

Did one ITK say Fonseca wasn't Paratici's pick though it makes you question even more, whose it was
