It’s either a straight red card for violently raising your hand into an opponents face or two yellow cards: one for the initial foul and one for raising your hand.

What the FUCK is VAR doing getting involved? It’s not a clear and obvious error in the slightest.

Any other of Utd, City , Arsenal & Pool that’s 2 reds everyday. It’s getting sickening now how they get away with. As a previous poster both players knew they were going to walk.

Controversial but I think he’s got to the right deicision he didn’t mean to make contact with his face hand slides up, it’s a shove not a slap or punch.
It’s a yellow at most.

however the mistake is giving the red, he should have booked him then gone and reviewed it or not reviewed it at all
It doesn’t matter if he meant it or not? He pushed him in the face

The lack of playmaker has caused us so many issues over the last few seasons. It feels like it’s even further exacerbated by Royal now coming inside as it pushes Kulu out wide. It certainly helps Royal but I feel like it doesn’t help the team as Kulu is our only creative AM.
And this is why we should play Richy on top and Kane behind

VAR can't give a yellow card. I assume they thought it wasn't enough to give a red but equally he couldn't just get away with it. So by giving a red and telling the ref to go to the monitor, it allowed the ref to review and produce a yellow. It's a shite system but probably the right outcome.
Not when there were two seperate incidents that both deserved yellow cards in their own right.

I think that's ok if we had gone for a more creative wide player instead of Richarlison.

Definitely not a straight red. Ref had got his card out to give ziyech a yellow for the foul and then in all the confusion didn’t give a yellow for it. He then gave a yellow for the push. Think there should have been an accumulation of yellows but it is what it is, let’s win this the proper way.

If you dont think its a red - are we just allowing players to lash out and hit/catch each other in the face now?

Firstly he shoved the top of his shoulder and went onto his face (slipped off his shoulder), and why the fuck did Emerson shoulder barge him? and why did he then go down like a sack of spuds. This is how I saw it hence yellow. You disagree that is fine. Continuing to moan about it is meh!

Remember the Martial red on Lamela. That was even weaker and he got sent off for that. It's a red all day long. You don't intentionally raise your hand to a players face and stay on the pitch. Bent as fuck.

Think it's just a foible of the VAR system, it can't give a yellow so gives a red and then offers the ref the chance on the field to downgrade it to a yellow.

Yellow was probably right for that stupid scuffle anyway.

They need to either rework or ditch VAR though. At the moment it's just to confusing and fussy.

What a farce of a referring decision: if you raise your arm to an opponent and especially connect its a straight red end of. I don’t care if he connected with his shoulder first, it’s a red. Fuming. Half time has come at a good time as it could’ve boiled over even more. The refereeing in this country is not just bad it’s so questionable at times, what on earth goes through their heads. Hopefully they reset at half time and don’t play into the Chelsea tactics of shithousery, their goalkeeper as well has wasted over 45 seconds on each goal kick or dead ball situation.

Feel bad for Atwell if that’s the genuine process because that’s ridiculous.

Don't get why all the niggle is happening, a lot of it from our side, just concentrate on playing some fucking football. I don't know about anyone else but I'm not impressed at all with players who show the most urgency and energy when it comes to the handbags rather than the actual game.

We'll get Spurs fans whining about the red card decision, personally I think Ziyech was a lucky boy - though it was an intended shove on the shoulder it did ride up a bit towards the face/neck and made contact - but lets not ignore that Emerson gets a dumb booking and then immediately serves up an outrageous dive that deserved a second one in itself.

A lot of them would be a damn sight better off concentrating on controlling and passing a football, rather than focusing on who to pick a fight with.
