I see Woodgate kept the massed ranks of the Chelsea front 3 at bay last night in an honourable 0-0 draw for Stoke. How is it that he sat on the treatment table for the best part of two seasons for us and is now ready to go and play well for them?

He played 90 mins, well done to him. But nothing says he will not have another break down. He probably is no longer the level we signed him at anyway. Two years of football can do that.

Had a good game however. At one point got away with a tug in the box (would of been a harsh penalty, but it did unbalance Torres), and his kicking was inconsistent, but very promising.

Its 1 game - if he plays 25+ games this season then fair play but thats not the case at the moment. In an era with only 25 players allowed, a team like us cannot risk having 2 players with horrific injury records who play in the same position. Therefore it was a straight choice between Woodgate and King and we went for King.

We all know Woodgate is a top class player when fit. The guy deserves an injury free season, if he gets one is a different matter.
