"30m plus some tat from their reserves like Harry Kane."

Lol. Levy's actually bloody good at getting good money from the 'tat from the reserves'.

Yeah that's the way to build on success, trade your best players in for players not good enough for a club just above you in the league.

I still can't get my head around this. Similar shit when we got Poch

In what world are Southampton anywhere near us in terms of ability or football standing.

Do they really think they have a chance of competing with us in the near future?

From RAWK:

"If I could have Rodgers get any player right now it'd be Bale, think Rodgers would turn him into an absolute monster, and he'd love his incredible pace and power"

For fuck sake :ROFLMAO:

"turn him into an absolute monster" as if he's some hidden gem. Not to mention the laughable notion that Bale would leave Real to join Liverpool.

Good find! :LOL::LOL::LOL::LOL::LOL:

To be fair, Rawk were saying that Suarez took a sideways step, so given that Barca finished above Real in the league last year, they probably think Bale would jump at the chance to move to a big club

Indeed, just imagine the hidden potential we could unlock from Christiano Ronaldo if we bought him. We could mold him into a world class player!

Come on mate. Get a little perspective...surely you must be able to understand how enormously frustrated and gutted Southampton fans must be feeling. They had the nucleus of a side that could have indeed competed higher up the table this season with a bit more squad depth - only to see it get torn to pieces.

We nicked their manager, starting this whole process, and now might be taking off with their last two really valuable assets (well, they still have Clyne). Are we such a touchy bunch that we cant allow them to have what is a well deserved vent?

Part of me agrees. Southampton teams usually play good football and their youth set-up was truly trailblazing (in English terms) - where they went, we were the first big team to follow. Choosing to revamp the youth set-up and invest in youth no matter what the immediate on-field consequences, rather than aiming for immediate promotion, and in all likelihood becoming a yo-yo club, took some guts. I've always quite liked them. So, sad to say, as I said elsewhere, probably the best thing for them to do now is sell anyone who wants to leave (Lovren and Rodriguez wanted out, and Schneiderlin had basically been told by Deschamps that he had to for his international career) for as much money as they can squeeze out, reinvest smartly with what should be a massive wedge (and no expect immediate returns) and promote from their excellent youth set-up. Not a prospect I would expect them to be happy about, ATM< but a situation they could emerge from stronger. And good luck to them.

And if part of that process was slating us into the ground, fair play. But come-on, equating themselves as on a level with us, that's just ROFL funny, innit :) Even at the height of my anti-Real rants last summer, I berated their policy of publicly unsettling any player they want, their government loan system, their debts that UEFA are ignoring, and the total lack of moral rectitude coming from the club, full-stop. But not once did I actually go so far as to suggest Bale was taking a sideways step (I think the most I ever said was that at his age he could give us another year and still only be approaching his peak years). And, sorry to say this, but much as I like Southampton, we are probably closer to Real Madrid than they are to us :)

And the sad truth is, Poch, and subsequently all (most...Shaw would probably have been sold) their players would probably have stayed then - but Poch wanted to see their ambition, that they were going to keep the squad together and build on it, which is how it was sold to him. Seemingly, he didn't get the assurances he wanted. So, sorry, Southampton fans, but blame may lie closer to home than having ridiculously delusional rants at us (y)

Am I the only one feeling a bit gutted for Southampton fans? They're a good club, have done things the right way and don't deserve it really. Not that I'm complaining about getting the players mind you, but it just seems sad. Anyway I wouldn't be unhappy if we helped them out by sending Sandro their way (permanent), and maybe Kane and Andros on loan for a season, could make the deal affordable too I guess.

Not to mention that Harry Kane is only 20 YO and has already shown that he can score at EPL level...hardly tat :)

I am getting absolutely no enjoyment out of this whatsoever and am a little sickened by the way their squad has been dismantled. Mainly, as you said - because they have gone about things in completely the right way...and this is their reward - it just sends a devastating message (if we didnt already know it before) to the rest of the league just how thick this glass ceiling is.
