I don't really see the benefit. If you want to be paid your full contract, stick around for it. If you value your career over money, make a compromise.

I don't see why we'd pay him for a full season where he could join a rival team.

It’s what happens with managers. Pay them off and they can’t join another club or they have to pay something back.
I say put him on gardening leave. That way he doesn’t use our facilities and can train in his back garden or find a friendly club who will allow him to train. That may open up some doors.

The longer you don’t play the quicker your own stock drops plus he ain’t getting younger.

If he’s really being this stubborn about things, leave him to it. Stick him on gardening leave and keep him as far away from the squad as possible.

Such a shame it’s ending like this with Danny Rose, proper Spurs and always gave 100%.

It is, but he seemed to decide 2 or 3 years ago that he had a chip on his shoulder, and he's let it consume him. I fully expect him to constantly appear (dare I say, like Sol Campbell) on TV or in articles about how hard done by he's been.

The reality is that he's thrown a privileged career away on a notion of believing he is at a level he hasn't been for quite some time. Biggest shame is that he's obviously thrown away the chance for the club to look after him like they have other long serving players.

If he was proper spurs then he would be going in everyday trying to change the story, training his hillocks off and literally earning his salary.

not sitting at home waiting for Milan to call.

If he had any self awareness he'll regret ever doing that interview in 2017.

He was injured at the time and it had been about 6 months since we'd last seen him on the pitch, which means it's now over 3 years ago since he was at the peak of his powers. He's lost an absolute ton of credibility as a player because he's not got close to those levels since and even a loan spell at Newcastle proved fruitless.

He needed to understand that his stock dramatically dropped. He'll probably blame Jose or the club in some way but at the end of the day if he hadn't have spoken out against the club publically when it was completely unnecessary to do so, he would have kept his credibility at the club and maybe wouldn't have been cast aside.

I wouldn't be surprised if Jose already had his mind made up about Rose before he even came to the club, you don't want a player around who can potentially run to the papers the minute you upset him......which Danny took hook, line and sinker.

As a player and professional on the pitch I really liked him and think he was one of the best we had at his best, he's also been with the club for sooo long which should be admired but he's left a massive stain on it by not being able to know when to speak out and how to do it.

I guess he'll be released after the january window now, just like BAE was.
We have to remember that this is not an ordinary guy being pushed out his job. He's a multimillionaire and has done extraordinarily well out the game. He might not be very happy but he won.

I'm really not sure why Danny gets his back up so quickly. It really seems that there are larger socio-cultural matters that don't sit well with him and it seems to manifest itself into highly sensitive, quickly antagonistic reactions that people will quickly and dismissively put in a "whinger with lots of baggage" bucket. I remember that meeting he called with Jose in that documentary and how he approached the conversation. Jose Mourinho is not someone you want to mess with. Either jump on his bandwagon with obsessive focus or get dumped to the side. Clearly the outcome with Danny and seemingly - and increasingly - the case with Dele.

Milan aren't a rival.

Can't put him on gardening leave. Doesn't work that way.

He doesn't seem bothered about playing football at all.
He has said a couple of times that he cannot wait to retire.

I don’t blame him for holding out for the value of his contract, would have been better if they had arranged this pre-transfer window though, a bale type deal. His new club pay X, and we top it up to his full salary.
