Jose Mourinho has a fierce reputation for dispensing with players he does not believe in but there are suggestions he has changed at Tottenham Hotspur.

I think Mourinho is being disingenuous when he says gradually he transformed LoCelso into the player he is now. As far as I'm concerned, it was Mourinho's inability to see what a great player LoCelso was right from the off that was the issue. Now, thankfully, the penny has dropped and GLC is one of the first names on the team sheet like it always should have been. Don't think Mourinho should be crediting himself with anything much in this instance.

For reasons that few us could understand, both Poch and then Mourinho continued to play a disinterested and demotivated Eriksen ahead of GLC until his eventual move to Italy. I can only imagine that they must both have perceived that Gio needed hardening up before he was regularly played in the PL.

I only skim read the article but didn't see Jose say anything about transforming Lo Celso into the player he is now.

Jose says he didn't see it in GLC at the beginning so he admitted what you accuse him of being unable to see.

He said: "I started giving him opportunities and the guy transformed himself into what he is today."

So Jose says he gave GLC the chance and the individual made it happen.

None of your post seems to be based on anything Jose has said.

Agreed, however Mourinho is a mind games type of manager. I really think he felt that he was trying to show his belief in Eriksen, hoping he would have changed his mind.

Perhaps it was to try and convince Eriksen how much we appreciated him and to get him to sign an extension?

Or to maintain his value if we managed to sell. To be honest I think it's amazing we got £17m for him with so little time left.

But that's a debate for another thread.....

Interesting. I imagine that despite the high profile players that Jose has sold over the years because they didn't fit the mould, I'm sure that there have also been players that he has had second moments about after initial doubts. It's good that he has persisted with N'dombele

TBF, it wasn’t like it was some long, drawn out saga anyway.

He didn't say that though did he?
