Tottenham defender Toby Alderweireld has suggested an unhappy team-mate could be behind the reports of unrest at the club, as the defender dismissed such an environment exists.

Let's be honest - We all know it's Danny Rose. It's stemming from the same journo who did Rose's "warts and all" interview. This would be an extraordinary coincidence if it ended up being anyone but Rose.

The Evening Standard ran a picture of Toby and Sanchez for this story, but it is most likely Rose.

Rose could well be in the process of forcing himself out of the club.
If his team mates believe he's gone running to the press with a bullshit story, surely it's not going to be a comfortable place to be anymore?

Nobody knows it may well be Vertonghen Winks or Eriksen.

To point the finger at Rose without proof isn’t right

Rose seems logical choice from his previous antics. Jose did say publicly that Rose wasn't the greatest against Liverpool so could be retribution, , maybe Jose should keep things quiet even if it is the truth.

Reading the quotation without the surrounding spin helps:

“Maybe there's a player that’s not happy and maybe he wants to say something?
"It's all possible, but from 99 percent I'm telling you we're happy with the group."

There is nothing there that would suggest that he knows anything about a specific teammate, nor that anyone has actually said anything to anyone. It reads as if he's speculating in general.

But the press will do what the press will do.

People should read more critically and thoroughly before pitching out names like confetti.

Maybe Toby should think before he says anything to the press. He has basically fed them easy headlines and given us, as fans, room to speculate which is stupid.

I figured it was Rebecca Vardy.

Get Coleen Rooney on the case.

Technically you’re right but I think it’s pretty rare that a player comes out and says something like this. For me this is one of the of those times I’d read between the lines.

Like I say, though, you’re right he’s not calling out a player or saying that there is a player saying this but Tobi comes across as quite a quiet yet reserved, intelligent guy and I think usually (if he’s getting probed with loaded questions) he’s savvy enough to bat them away. It would seem to be different in this case.

I think it's fair to guess it's Rose but probably an exagerated story. The fact that they had a disagreement about him being ready for Boro and the reports of him being sold tie up. We need to sell him sooner rather than later anyway.

On the other hand, Toby will clearly know who's unhappy in the dressing room. He's not an idiot, he knows what he's saying. He could have just said, "who knows where that came from".
