Irish poster here.

He’s hanging around with some seriously dodgy folks.......

Most people know the score. Literally public enemy number 1 in Ireland and he’s is posing for pictures with their kin.

Although it’s unfair to tar the kids with the same brush as the proper scumbag parents, it seems like the kids are enjoying the fruits of the “labour” a little too much. Is Parrott from the same area as these people? Grown up with them etc? If that’s the case then it’s a little different. If he’s befriended them recently then he needs a chat with himself.

Hang around with shit and you start smelling of shit

Glad he played, he should be a regular in the u23s even if he does get time off the bench for the seniors.

Time to stop the madness of the training oblivion programme Poch was running.

Yea lads he grew up with they are from the same area. Like all areas like that he was well known from an early age because of how good he was at footie but unfortunately he's also known around the area for some other bits.

Let's hope he gets his head straight and buckles down because theres obviously a lot of talent there but there's a very long list of lads with talent but who didn't take advantage of it and ended up back with tail between the legs.

Sounds similar to Ravel Morrison & what a waste of a talent he was

I’ve got to say when you hear him speak you would never guess any of these stories. He sounds very mature and level headed. In some ways it might be good this stuff came to a head now and it can be dealt with. My gut feeling is he will be fine and I’m actually looking forward to having a player with a bit of an edge as opposed to some of the pampered softies we currently have.

If he's been mates with the guy since they were kids then that makes it more difficult. I wonder how many of us would ditch a childhood friend if work asked us to?

At 18 that may seem tough but with the money at stake aligned with the fact that friendships change as lives do going into your 20s/30s/40s with family and work responsibilities changing your social circles he’d be mad not to focus on the bigger picture. Plenty of time to catch up in years to come when he’s retired and kicking about doing nothing in his mid-30s.

Nothing that unusual, I think. Plenty of people drop their mates to concentrate on their pursuit of careers or personal development.

Possibly. Another possibility is to move to a club that aren't making those demands of you. I guess it depends on if his friend is a huge distraction in his life. Like you say he's got a choice to make.

There's a big difference between losing contact as your lives evolve and being told to drop a friend who you're close to - not that we even know if that's the case here.

Most top clubs will do that though.

Perhaps Mourinho gave him such a short time on the pitch as a little sniff of what he could have, sort of there you go, that's what it's like, do you want it? How bad do you want it? You know what you've got to do now it's up to you. Tow the line and you'll get some more.

Or perhaps not :D

It’s all down to Troy. To succeed in the modern game you have to make sacrifices.

Who are we to judge him at this point? He has already got this far, and so he must have a certain amount about his character.

There will be a number of crossroads in his career ahead, and this is one of them. At this point I will just hope he wants it enough and makes the right decisions.

The world is too soft now.

Comments like ‘how would you feel if you had to cut out your our mates for work when you were 18’?

Grow a pair. People have had to make all sorts of sacrifices for work. I know people who haven’t been able to see their wife or kids for months because they had to work.

I don’t think disassociating with a known drug dealing family in sacrifice of earning millions of pounds playing football is a tough call.

Troy could even look at recent examples such as Raheem Sterling. He had a much tougher childhood, and he came through it and focused on football. He hasn’t done too badly.

Just to clarify, I am not slating Troy here. He is yet to prove himself either way and currently I will give him all my faith and support.

Fergie gave players this choice. It separates your Giggs and Nevilles from your Sharpes and Morrisons. Talent without the right attitude at the top level is like losing 50% of your ability.

He even controlled what cars they were allowed to have and not have depending on how old they were IIRC. I think kids need more control, until they turn 21 or something, not less.

He’s getting a look in tomorrow. I’m sure of it. Hopefully he starts but I think he’ll get more than the 1 minute Jose threw him on Sunday
