Any thoughts on taking a punt on Bergwijn’s old teammate at PSV Mohammed Ihattaren? Very young still, but massive potential. Has something about him similar to Ziyech, maybe a bit of Lamela-esque tenacity, good dead ball delivery.
Interesting player for sure - but nowhere near ready for the prem. Would have to be loaned back for at least 1 full season, maybe more...

We would be lucky to even get that with Levy and ENIC in charge let alone more! lol

Sadly more is a necessity when you taken into account the ITK that pre our dip in form Jose wanted 8 new players and the state of some of our senior players.

Lloris - error prone and wants to go to the MLS
Gazzaniga and Vorm - lol
Vertonghen - legs have gone and out of contract
Alderweireld - legs are going
Lamela - crock and contributes very little in terms of assists and goals
Eriksen - needs replacing, likely to be Eze

Ideally we keep Kane and add:

GK x 2 - Henderson, Ramsdale, Turkish keepers
RB - Aarons, Bogle
CB - God knows
LB - Lewis, Grimaldo
DM - Hojberg
AM - Eze
S - Osimhen

All feels a bit pointless, at the moment. Mourinho got dealt a poor hand, but it won't matter as the sharks smell blood in the water. It may not be based in reality given the circumstances, but Jose will continue to wallow in his self-pity and lash out at every turn. Honestly, this current break away from being the primary target may do him a world of good (considering the world climate, that seems so trivial).

We have a squad that could realistically see half the players being shifted for reasonable fees, either through performance issues or simply wanting to move on. We went from being on the cusp of greatness had it only been for a few savvy signings (we got none), to now needing a complete rework that will likely take multiple years, and that's only if we are aggressive in the transfer market.

I pride myself on being a pretty positive guy in general, but right now, it all feels pretty bleak.

I do think the first thing we should do is make Luis Campos the Director of Football and have Daniel Levy focus on the development piece. That's where I feel he's best suited, and what he's done for the club can never be overlooked, but he simply has held the club back from a performance standpoint for far too long. He really was bailed out by Pochettino until that all went sour.

The Celtic defender Ajer looks very promising... very similar range of passing as Alderweireld. He’s young, very tall, strong, good with his feet and has a decent turn of speed for a big man.

What's everyone's thoughts on the Smalling links?

Can't say i'm keen. We need reinforcements at CB but surely there are prospects out there who have a higher ceiling and would be reasonable wages etc.

We may well need a competent squad player and he might be a viable option for that but (hopefully) if there are plans for players at CB, we must have better options ahead of Smalling. Not sure if it's mostly paper talk anyway.

Kind of expecting JM to pull Drogba out of retirement. Kind of like a Keegan and Beardsley thing

Aren't both the PSG fullbacks available on free transfers this summer? Muienier and Kurzawa? Either or both of them worth a punt? Both mid to late 20s, right? Also unlikely we'll have much money to spend over the transfer window. Even if we end up back in the CL, I can't see Jose being given more than 50M as a budget (plus anything else he can add via player sales).

So, if we got both those FBs, then the rest of our money can be focused on a CM, a CD (if the Dier experiment doesn't work) and an attacking midfielder/striker type. And if we are committed to bringing in higher quality in those positions, we'll need close to 100M (at least).

Which probably means we might need to focus on players that have only 1 yr left on their contracts.
