I'm sorry man but its bullshit that just because you don't get target number one, then everything else is just going to suck. If that is the case our scouts are horrible.

You are still only considering quality. I think we are waiting for a perfect storm of quality, value and attainability before we commit from now on and I am behind that.

To be fair Chelsea signed Jorginho, Kovacic and a new keeper to replace Courtois without Losing Hazard or Willian...i wouldnt say they were losers to be fair.

Chelsea spent £125m to get Jorginho, downgrade Courtois to Kepa, and get a one-year loan for Kovacic. I have to say if we spent £125m to get rid of Lloris for some second rate keeper, get a one year deal on a Real Madrid bench player, and then pick up Jorginho (who is quality) I would give us an F rating.

They have so much depth in their squad and from their loanees that with the additional window of opportunity to buy from their squad, Willian and Hazard are not yet safe. If someone comes in for Kane we can set the price to £300m and Kane isn't going to complain that with no one to back him up, we have no other options, or that such a price is inappropriate. Chelsea have a laundry list of players that can do the job for Hazard or Willian at an adequate level.

All enthusiasm has been sapped from me and I wonder where this leaves us in future windows. If we had won the league comfortably least season and hadn't improved you could understand this window but we are miles off and a bit more World Cup experience isn't going to make the difference. Feels like we have settled for top four and not trying to win something, which feels criminal when we are pretty close.

If the club come out with this being part of the plan then there should be no excuses if we fail to win things this year.

I'm never gone full-blown anti-Levy but I'm teetering on the edge right now. The team clearly has weaknesses that needed addressing and I don't see how we're going to compete on an equal footing with clubs that have strengthened. I'll see how it goes over the next year. If it's more of the same and we start losing key players because of our lack of ambition, then I can't see the point in supporting the team any more because it will clearly just be another business. I'll vote with my feet.

The ITK on this forum were all positive at the start of the window - the club obviously put the information out there, that we'd have a proper go this window and back Poch with his targets.

All over the papers - Poch new contract, £150m war chest!!

But as the window went on, it became clearer and clearer that it was never going to happen. Each and every one of our targets we found ourselves making excuses as to why we couldn't make it happen.

Transfer fee structure, agents being difficult, not our first choice, home-grown quota etc etc...

The prices for players are inflating every year, we know this, but it just seems we are refusing to adapt.

The list is endless. I have always thought levy in charge was great for us. He has taken us from mediocrity to a top team. Unfortunately I don't think he will take us any higher than that.

I pray this was all in line with Poch as honestly if poch was not aligned to the no signing at all, then it's really bad news.

Levy has just exhibited a behaviour I dislike. He is prepared to sell players and maximize his profit but not prepared to buy players in the same vain. I will not for one believe we should pay over the odds but come on don't be a crocked.

Hight of selfishness, wants profit but refuse for others.

Well we adapt... on the selling side.

To Dare is To Do...so it says on our new home anyway.
But never mind we do have europes biggest club shop, huge new ticket office, sliding pitch, cheese room & the most expensive tickets in the country to look forward it.

Same again next year when the season ticket renewals come around...we'll have a gazillion pounds to spend so we will be told but then at the end of the transfer window we will be told that there was nobody good enough for us to sign...at the right price lol.

And by the way...where the f has my ticket for the Fulham match got to?

It's the flipside of 'doing things the right way' as we are told. To do that apparently relies on jacking up prices for fans, going to great lengths to install expensive pitches for American egg throwers, pandering to the usual corporate twaddle and whatnot.

I'm under no illusions that this needs to be done for us to progress, but its not some kind of noble and altruistic approach on Levy's behalf by any means. So I find some sycophantic devotion to Spurs the corporation a little tiresome. After all, they are ultimately trying to rinse us for as much money as they can, balancing that with the performance of the team needed to attract people.

I don't think even he could have predicted how well Poch would do this job, not only elevating our performances as a team but also shaping free players into 9-figure value assets. I really hope Poch is somehow ok with this refusal to try and build upon our squad because he is worth many, many millions to us as a club. Levy is the man that employed Tim fucking Sherwood before, so god knows what the future could hold if/when Poch leaves.

Funny thing is, a bit like A&C's original post, I still think generally he's a good custodian for the club, but even then we can disagree with his approach and in this case he seems short-sighted in respect of the football project that must underpin all of our various building works and corporate endeavours. Ultimately, big clubs that win pots make the most money. Liverpool are a case in point of how a period of success can reap commercial benefits for decades after..

I will reflect with no emotion, as at the moment I am farking ballistic.

Why there is a little semblance of understanding. I fear how far we are taking the piss out of Poch. If we made T4 (which I doubt) that will be another reason for DL to procrastinate further. Any little sign of unrest from within the squad etc, will see him regrettably race to do deals quick in January to appease all.

It does not make good reading, and I personally believe DL should stick to the commercial aspect of running the club, and let someone else handle the transfers, without his interference.

And I again for one minute do not buy all the PR spin doctoring ‘all is well’.

Bang on.

Problem is he has/can recruit a DOF but he clearly has to always have input/last say.

Disappointed but trying to look at the positives and accept it was an unusual window due to early close etc.
This will change though if I have to watch Sissoko trying to control a football anytime soon.
Best we can hope, Toby stays and gets his head down then dier can stay in midfield, Winks stays fit and perhaps Eriksen plays a little deeper.
I think Llorente has to stay now as we’ve no other Kane cover.

This window and its planning has been a catastrophic plane crash. No survivors. Bodies only identifiable through dental records.

We are adapting. We have decided to go this season with the same squad as last year because we couldn't find value, a first in the PL era!

What you mean is we aren't adapting the way you want us to adapt.

I don't get why you would doubt top 4. I'm currently looking at all 6 squads from us and our competitors on separate tabs and I still see our squad as second only to Manchester City's. I agree with you that the window has been poor and yes, maybe we need a DoF to handle transfers or something similar (though Pochettino is against this I think), but to look at our squad and those of our competitors and not think we are looking bloody strong is a bit much in my opinion.
