We’ve played a load of shit teams and looked shit. Quality of the opposition means nothing tonight. We still had to go out and be professional and for the first time in a while we did. That’s the positive.
Tonight has been undeniably just about entirely positive, don't think he's saying otherwise. It's just that we had reason to feel the same way after the equally positive Crystal Palace performance and result, and then look how it went from there. Cautious optimism is very much the order of the day today: hopefully it will grow into well-justified optimism in the coming weeks and months and Poch will get back on track. I'd be really glad to see that happen, despite being a Poch Out cheerleader recently: I don't care who does well for Tottenham, I just want us to do well again - and if that's Poch then great, I'm all for it.

But the acid test will be sustaining good performances and results going forward, and tonight is just the first step on a long road for us to be able to confidently say that we're back in that good place, and so bearing in mind how things have been going for us for a good long while now I'd say the only sensible position to take after tonight's game would be that prudent mix of caution and positivity.

Tonight is a step in the right direction, but it hasn't changed my concerns. We need a big performance against Liverpool, we cannot go there and lose.

If we go on a run of consecutive wins, then I'll start believing it'll all be okay with Poch...
I think any team can go to Liverpool and lose. Last season actually we played OK and got shithoused by them in the end after a Lloris blunder. As I said before tonight's game, i'm looking at the performance. Are we competing? Are we at least creating some chances? Are we showing a bit of bollocks and desire? I guess we will find out on Sunday.

I just feel like going to Liverpool and losing this weekend will just set us back from any momentum and confidence we gained tonight.

There are no easy games in the prem. a good performance against pool would be better than getting shat on. Come on ffs, have a bit of positivity. We ain’t played like that for a long time.

You don’t sound convincing
I am speaking from my heart! I have gone on record saying how much I want him to listen and turn it around. I didn’t expect this selection, tactics, and performance. The scores one is great, but for me performance was impressive.

One must remember the EPL is a lot faster, and our players may not feel that comfortable stringing passes together.

I thought we gave away the ball loads tonight. Maybe not in really dangerous areas but if we do that again against Liverpool we will be in trouble. It’s why I think he will change the midfield and bring winks back in.

plus we owe them for the CL final. If the players can’t be up for it and wanting revenge then it will be yet another concern.

Agree with most of this

But for me, the performance against Liverpool is more important than the result.

That's Chelsea under Mourinho and Man Utd under.........erm................yes, Mourinho.

and we have fans on here crying out for Poch out, Moaninho in.

if that happened and he come in and we still failed to win a trophy remembering Chelsea & Man U chucked bucket loads of money for him to succeed and in Chelsea's case Pep wasn't changing Man C into a monster at the time. Yes he is a winner, but we are nothing like the Portugal league, even the Italian league is weaker, and the 2 clubs in the PL he has won trophies with have backed him to the hilt until United sacked him.

if it doesn't go right here and he fails to win trophies then we might be looking at replacing him within 3 years and he always leaves with a big pay out, and we will be left with the task of finding another top manager and playing catch up again.

One swollow does not maketh a Winter

Great result after the horrendous performance v Watford. Great energy and workrate for 25mins tonight

We saw the same start v Palace and a great 35mins v Bayern but for the most part we’ve been poor

Dele still looked miles off it to me and we really miss Eriksens creativity and passing range. Plus Jan is suddenly turning into Michael Dawson (no offence to Daws, loved him)

Long long way to go. Luckily the next ones an easy one at Anfield. Will be interesting to see how we perform there

H looked hungry again tonight though. He was desperate for the hat trick but good to see him get a brace

Having read that article Poch seems to think that the problems only started recently.

I mean how does he explain from last February. No one in the media is putting that to him because of reaching the CL final.

But it's precisely the whole context in which it should be looked at.

The recent humiliations were threatening to happen before, like City away etc.

our away form has been crap since February. in the league we have only lost 2 home games, and as pointed out we had a threadbare squad due to injuries including players playing with injuries, and that threadbare team was burnout. in fact the team struggled to overly impress since last August yet none of you can understand our main 12 players never had a break from the previous season.

this season we are struggling because we have most of our defence going through the motions, and not the depth to replace them. Rose has played because Davies had an injury at the start, and Sess if going to be used as a LWB has also been out. at the start there seemed a problem with Jan. Toby hasn't been Toby, KWP got injured at a time Aurier was injured, Foyth was injured and suspended, and at the moment perhaps Poch doesn't feel Tanganga is quite ready. The last time Poch threw in a youth player at the deep end that wasn't really ready was CCV, never played for us since.

Exactly mate. All about the performance this Sunday.

And importantly the team selection. If Toby, Rose or Erisken are in the side then it shows that tonight Poch used the ‘a broken clock is right twice a day’ team selection method.

Not against Watford but as they say he has form, Sanchez at RB, Sissoko at RB and maybe even Winks as quasi-DM

you do know Sanchez played at right back because KWP, Foyth and Aurier wasn't fit, and that Sanchez has more pace then Toby.

Serious question because it pisses me off to no end and is right up there with snooty and petty pressers.
Why does he never start Lucas Moura.
As in ever.
Fuckwit.

This rant is NOT over. I can assure you of that.

I take it you never watched the Watford game at all, or even witnessed the starting line up

has Poch came out and said that’s why he played him there? I missed that
