Listening to the Spurs Show this morning they were saying the ITK is that the senior players are fed up with the regime, including Harry Kane, and didn't like Poch's behaviour around the CL final, AND that Poch himself is wanting a way out. Depressing. But I'm wondering how anyone can really get reliable info on what Poch is wanting? Unless he's put it out there himself maybe.

We will know if he's being backed for sure if Solskjaer gets the boot. By not sacking Poch DL is either waiting for Utd to come in or he's genuinely backing him. It'll be interesting to see if DL rejects any approach from Man Utd. If he does then that's surely a sign that we should expect an overhaul of the playing squad, certainly in terms of outs.

The difference between letting Utd have him and sacking him could be as much as £30-40m by the sounds of it as he'd have to be paid off if Levy sacked him. If Utd 'poach' him, then he can appoint essentially a free agent in Jose Mourinho or Max Allegri.

How's Pepe doing? Pulisic? Moise Kean?

It really depends on the player. We've had the likes of Modric and Bale - who both took years, albeit for different reasons - to the likes of Berbatov who hit the ground running. There's so many factors involved, so it's got to be looked at on a case by case basis.

Modric and Bale didn't take ages to settle at all. They both had good starts to their careers. Bale was just started at left back which was a mistake and then the team had problems. Modric started in the Ramos team which was a disaster but then grew into the team once Redknapp found out he could play him on the left.

Bale

Bale played his first game for Spurs in a friendly against St. Patrick's Athletic on 12 July 2007, but was substituted on the 80th minute with a minor dead leg. He made his competitive debut for Tottenham Hotspur on 26 August away against Manchester United.[25] On 1 September 2007, in his second Spurs appearance, he scored his first goal for the club in a 3–3 draw with Fulham.[26] Bale went on to score against Arsenal in the North London derby from a free kick.[27] He then scored in the League Cup home tie against Middlesbrough,[28] to make it three goals in four starts for the then 18-year-old.

Modric

Modrić spent his early days at a position of number 10, before being shifted to the left wing to play alongside Wilson Palacios.[49] Spurs teammate Tom Huddlestone later said, "[H]is versatility was probably a blessing and a curse, he was that good that he had to play out of position for a bit."[49]

After the appointment of manager Harry Redknapp, Modrić was given a more familiar role as a central or left-sided midfielder, allowing him to have more influence on the team and use his footballing talent more productively, for example in a 4–4 draw with arch-rivals Arsenal on 29 October.[51] Redknapp recognised Modrić's value to his side and planned to shape his new team around the Croatian playmaker.[52] He scored his first competitive goal at Tottenham in a 2–2 draw against Spartak Moscow during the UEFA Cup group stages on 18 December 2008.[53] He scored his first Premier League goals against Newcastle United in an away defeat on 21 December, a home win in the third round of the FA Cup against Wigan Athletic on 2 January 2009, and in an away defeat against Manchester United on 25 April 2009.[54] Using Modrić in his former position from his Dinamo days made him more effective with performances against Stoke City,[55] Hull City,[56] and most notably on 21 March when he scored the only goal in a win against Chelsea.

I bet there's infinitely more examples at teams where they've stepped in seamlessly.

It's an excuse and one the players will buy into if you let them. I bet if you just chucked them in they'd be just fine after a run of games and not being chopped in and out so they build up no rhythm of play. Besides a new signing will be desperate to start games and show what he can do, it's only natural.

Yeah there's a few Alli, Wanyama, Toby

Well we had a pretty big one we worked on for weeks and then couldn't push it over the line on deadline day... Ya know that Dybala guy.

But wasn't he just someone we looked at when he was offered around, rather than being part of the planned moves during the summer?

If Poch is so interested in building a new young hungry team, why give Sissoko a new 4 year contract and play him ahead of KWP?

I'm not sure the contract was down to Poch. Didn't he something about it being a club decision?

I really hope that someone is making a log of all these negative, Poch out statements and conclusions that he can't save us and our season is done when we end up finishing 3rd or 4th and end up reaching the semi final of the FA Cup and everyone says how good a season it was considering the start.

All those people will look pretty stupid for writing off the manager in such dramatic fashion. All it will take is 3 wins in a row (not even great performances) for Spurs to be back in the mix and the media and fans to be putting pressure on Solsjaer, Lampard or Emery

We are in a spot of bother, our leader has made wrong decisions and is dragging us down with no sight of improvement.
Have you thought about if the help you need is for others to see what you can't and be brave enough to address the issue at hand?

Your post made sense if it wasn't for us being total shit for a very long time.

It feels like that in football, doesn't it?

Or just the whole of 2019 perhaps?

Yes we've been not very good for about 9 months or so (of which 3 months was a summer break) and clearly we haven't addressed the root cause of the problem yet but after supporting Spurs since the start of the 90s there's a lot of perspective i'm applying to this period

What’s this thread got to do with Brexit?

Calm down everyone. We have only lost three games, there’s still lots of points to play for. We will get our act together soon and I am still confident that we will progress in the Champions League.

I knew that stupid fucking “you play thursday cause you’re fucking shite” song would come back to bite us
Sorry Hank I disagree, one of my proudest moments as a Spurs fan was singing with a load of fellow Spurs fans in Madrid (Ronaldo Madrid)
Tottenham at the Bernabeu Arsenal watching Emmerdale, sheer joy
