That old excuse. Other teams manage to integrate their players straight away. Got to start asking whether it's the manager's approach thats wrong if other teams can manage it and we have done it perfectly fine in the past.

I have never understood this either, yes it takes some time for new players to get to know players and manager etc but if you are buying a talented footballer they will adapt

Yeah he needs to but we all know he won't.

Our first transfer window in the new stadium saw us spend around 100m on Ndombele and Sessegnon and we would probably have spent another 60m on LoCelso if the loan deal hadn't suited Betis more. On top of that we sold off GKN and Janssen at a substantial loss. All this withthe backdrop of people saying there would be another zero net spend and Levy would ask too much for the deadwood. I'm hoping, even confident, that we've turned a bit of a corner in this respect but that remains to be seen.

Must be something about Klopps approach as well then, since Fabinho took half a season, and they're still wating for Naby Keita to get up to speed. Andy Robertson took about a season to get going. I think it's not unheard of for players to need some time to settle. Some hit the ground running and some need time.

Well I hope you are right.

No idea where our next win is even going to come from.

Unless we're unlucky with an early goal against, i actually think we'll win our next two against Watford and Red Star at home.
However, I think it will be followed by three away losses and one will be a massive trashing from Liverpool.
So I predict a wave of optimism on here for a couple of weeks, especially with transfer talks added, what comes after however I predict will be dark.

See Lucas Moura.

In fairness though mate we didn't purchase for two windows which is also part of the problem in setting us back and that has skewed the spending figure somewhat, because in reality we had to spend more this year because of previous lack of spend.

And ndombele for the other reasons, he’s been fine but has he even played 90mins, he’s not fit enough yet
I think he's been good, and pre injury he looked the business. He's clearly struggling with the pace beyond 60 mins at the moment, but I'm sure he'll get there.

Yet was fit enough for Lyon in their champions league games. He doesn't look fit in our matches because he's asked to cover the ground of 2 men in our stupid formation.

Fair enough, but if Levy doesn't realise the implications of not addressing the issues we have, he'll get a backlash that he thoroughly deserves. I credit him with more sense than that though.

Yep, it's a load of the old proverbial. Similar to always hearing about how much fitter our players are than any other club in the country/Europe/world/universe, when quite clearly they are not.

If Poch is going to rebuild first thing he should do is stop talking bullshit, stop complaining and act like he is the one that will do the rebuild.

They don't really, plenty of examples where other players have taken time to settle in, it's not exclusive to us.

Lots of Mourinho talk in papers today.
Well, either they are putting two and two together (i.e. Mourinho is interested in getting back into football and Poch is struggling at the moment) or journalists have been looking at the 'next manager' poll on SC.

He looks a great player and with better and the right people around him could be even better let's hope he sticks around for a while yet.

How's Pepe doing? Pulisic? Moise Kean?

It really depends on the player. We've had the likes of Modric and Bale - who both took years, albeit for different reasons - to the likes of Berbatov who hit the ground running. There's so many factors involved, so it's got to be looked at on a case by case basis.

I bet there's infinitely more examples at teams where they've stepped in seamlessly.

It's an excuse and one the players will buy into if you let them. I bet if you just chucked them in they'd be just fine after a run of games and not being chopped in and out so they build up no rhythm of play. Besides a new signing will be desperate to start games and show what he can do, it's only natural.
