Everton could well be in the bottom three after the midweek games. They've got Liverpool, while the two teams immediately below them play each other. Silva would probably be gone already if they could get someone decent in immediately.

Their next fixtures are Liverpool, Chelsea, Utd, Leicester and Arsenal.

It's hard to imagine them picking up any points from that (<insertjokeaboutArsenal>) so by Christmas they more than likely could be in very real trouble.

But at the same time, is it worth hiring a new manager now, who will likely be burdened with the worst start of any Everton manager in history?

Better to give Silva until the week between Leicester and Arsenal and give a new manager a sliver of a chance to start off well.

It sounds like Moyes might be coming back as caretaker manager for a while so not sure it matters who the opponents are. I know he's got a terrible reputation these days, but I think he'll do OK there. He'll get he defence sorted and get them climbing up the table.

Yeah if it's a temp job I can see more logic to doing it now.

Given their next few fixtures I wonder if the new manager (whoever it is) will want to hold off taking over for a couple of matches so they can start with some easier games.
