I've always said that that was the greatest goal ever scored. No one who was there will disagree.
In all the football I've watched, both live and on television over so many years and taking into consideration the wonderful goals I have witnessed, I have never seen one to better that Greaves' goal.

I just wondered to myself how we'd all take it, if or when Harry manages to break Greavesie's goalscoring record. Will we all have the same love in our hearts for 'H' as we do for 'Our Jim'? I wonder...

I would think that those who never saw much of Greavsie in action would herald Harry more easily than those of us that saw Greavsie play regularly.
Plus H is home grown!

I loved Jimmy for sure, but love Harry too. He won't break Jim's 357,but I hope he breaks all of Jim's records with us.
Will love it, as it helps us, and Harry is one of our own so it's fitting he becomes our top scorer.

True for me as well... As I said in a previous post, I only have 2 heroes, my Dad and Jimmy Greaves. I'm nearly 68 now, so that will never change.

It's been a year today since Jimmy died.

I'll be totally honest I hadn't realised it until just now when it came up on a twitter feed I follow.

God rest him, he's my greatest ever footballing hero and the main reason I fell in love with Spurs over 60 years ago. ?‍♂️
Exactly the same for me
Loved his unfussy enjoyment of his own ability.
World class throughout his career.
Scored on every debut.

MOre than 50 years on, I can still remember with great fondness, his last goal for us. It was a glancing header (!) against Derby from a cross on the right, and the whole Park Lane stand went absolutely barmy. January 1970. God bless him my hero. :nailbiting: ❤️

Just before we all move on from this topic, if anyone out there still hasn't watched the incredible BT Sport film 'Greavesie' I strongly urge you to seek it out and let it warm your heart. It's an absolute work of art and is a wonderful tribute to the greatest English goalscorer of all time.

Me too, I even contemplated, for a very brief second supporting Wet Spam when he went there, thankfully common sense prevailed.
