What a weekend of hurling.....Galway in dramatic draw with Clare (replay next Sunday) and today Cork and Limerick played out one of the best games I have ever seen with Limerick eventually winning after extra time 3-32 (41) to 2-31 (37)

In the Google playstore there is an app called SportEventz (blue circle with se in the middle). I contacted the owner of it and he has included Gaelic sports. You can not only see upcoming fixtures but if you select a match it tells you what tv stations are showing the game.... sorted !!

As some of you know my Pa died last week Weds 25th July aged 85.

He was a pretty good hurler in his time, saw his medals many years ago but don't know where they are now.

I hope you don't mind me putting up a pic of him. In the pic he is front row, Sean Somers, his brother Micky is also in their and the man next to my dad is my Uncle. Wexford were pretty good back in the 1950's.

Very sorry to hear that mate, it’s a horrible feeling losing a parent.

Was he in any of the Wexford all Ireland winning teams of the 50s?

He was good but like so many others couldn't make the team which won the all-Ireland's.
I grew up on the tales of the men that did win and I was able to meet a few of them.

My first ever visit to Wembley Stadium was in 1966.

My Dad took me there because the occasion was the Irish games, somehow the GAA wangled a day out
for the Irish at Wembley.

As Wexford was taking part my old man got us tickets and we even got to walk out on the pitch, have a general walk about and we entered the dressing rooms at half time to see the old mans mates talk about relaxed security back in those days.

I was only 10 - an London Irish boy - on the loose at Wembley. When I was in those dressing rooms I was really disappointed - they didn't look anything special. Wooden slats and coat hangers with a tiled bath/shower area which wasn't much different than Hackney Baths where Wembley our school swimmingly lessons.

I didn't know that a couple of months later them England fellahs would be lifting that Jules Rimet trophy.

( I didn't make it back to Wemberley until 1973 for the LC final v Norwich )

The All Ireland Football final between Dublin and Tyrone is on, after 15 mins Tyrone are winning 0-4 to 0-1

Looking like a good contest, bit juicy so far.

I'm not going to be able to watch all this, my loyalty lies with Spurs I'm afraid.
