I don’t get the continued ignoring of Grealish - terrific footballer who has displayed more leadership, grit and resilience on the pitch than a lot of the players being picked ahead of him. The cynic in me wonders if Southgate is doing a potential suitor a favour in unsettling him to push for a move to a Manchester team that wears red. That’s probably conspiracy theorist nonsense but I can’t believe for a second that Grealish would still be omitted if he played for a top 6 team the way he’s played for a Villa team who he’s had to drag across the line for the past 2 seasons.

Foden is brilliant but has hardly played and Mount is overrated. Not a huge fan of Maddison’s, but he should have been there over the latter. However, Grealish has been one of the best midfielders in the league this season and should be seen as our main creative player, but he doesn’t even make it into the squad. Ludicrous. He has to move from Villa to get noticed.

No LBs (Saka?); Keane and Mings over Tarkowski and Dunk; Trippier over James/AWB; and Maguire should have been dropped. Also, If Kalvin Phillips made it in there, Ben White should have been considered.

Just fucking stupid to have internationals week before the season starts. All internationals should have been abandoned until second half of the season when they could fully know if the Euros can go ahead next summer or not..

Can guarantee that Kane will play the full 180 minutes in these two games and then come the end of the season the press/southgate etc will be moaning about how he is burnt out.

Twitter is full of Gooners crying that Saka didn't make the squad, Villa fans crying that Grealish didn't make the squad and Leicester fans about Maddison.

I can understand Saka and Maddison not being in it but no Grealish is a weird one.

Saying that, they could all be in it when the Liverpool, Man u and man city players all pull out with suspect injuries.
