The opening salvo of this report:
The pre-match patter generally centred around the story that, despite the press’ insistence to not bother talking about, is being dragged on and on and on. Sterling vs Gomez: Two Men Enter, One Man Leaves… before being invited back by Gareth Southgate.

Roy Keane, for a long time now a totemic figure of calm and reason, conducted the discussion like the UNICEF peace keeper he is. “I remember having a full on scrap with Peter Schmeichel in the abandoned car park opposite the hotel in Bucharest. Knives were thrown- he set me on fire after throwing me on the industrial grill- I think it’s a good thing. Every team I’ve been involved in has had some argy-bargy with players, staff…” What’s that phrase? If you can’t spot the terrifying dickhead in the room?

Ashley Cole had nothing to offer on this as he literally once shot a child with an air rifle.

:ROFLMAO:

Was watching this game without the sound last night so didn't hear the booing at the time.

Why are football fans such tremendous fuckwits?

Agree. Mount doesn’t look ready yet. I would start Maddison over him on Sunday

I think Foden, Mount, Maddison and Grealish are all fighting for the same place and at the moment I'd say Maddison and Grealish are the best options. Long term I think Foden will establish himself as first choice.

I think it’s always been like that, just 30/40 years ago they could express themselves by kicking the shit out of each other. So I guess booing is progress of sorts ?‍♂️

I saw Gomez was booed at Wembley. Is Southgate getting any criticism for that? He should. Its all down to the ship he runs that leaks like a sieve. I can’t tell you how many times i’ve seen Sky tweet squad and team news way before there announced. Then this leaked forcing Southgate to confirm. No one had to know. But everyone found out.

Same here I found out about the booing later on but thought they may have been booing Sterling as they showed him clapping Gomez on the screen.

Stupid either way.

So still no Maddison! Can’t quite get my head round it. He is better than all of Rice, Winks and Ox. Only one of Winks or Rice should be playing and Maddison should be in.

Interesting to see how Hudson-Odoi gets on.

I'm looking forward to seeing Winks playing more box to box with a pure DM behind him. We might see him add something new to his game.

Heard some rumblings about Maddison carrying a knock, which would make sense.
