Jose is happy. As he said, he wanted a striker but not any old donkey for any old Dollar. There is a very good allocation of funds for the summer and we have already held talks with targets and it’s looking very good. Jose was offered Piatek permanently (22m) by Levy but said he didn’t want to pay that as wasn’t sure he was worth that. He would have taken a loan with option to get a better look at him but we couldn’t agree with Milan and then Hertha Berlin took the punt just as I thought Milan would give way. He believes he can get a better striker for better value for money in the summer and will make do with Bergwijn, Dele, Son, Lucas etc. Eze deal looking likely for the summer, we have very good relations with QPR after Clarke and Amos. We ended interest in Jarrod Bowen after signing Bergwijn. He was waiting for us all window but then Bergwign happened, and that’s the reason for West Ham’s/Palace late scramble for him. Yes I can be criticised as an optimist but believe we have really added to our rebuild this window with perm signing of Gio and signings of Gedson and Bergwijn. Yes Giroud (IMO) would’ve been an ideal scenario but wasn’t to be. We have also shifted a lot of unwanted players and opened up space in squad for the summer. Rose and KWP will be sold. Also am told Sissoko could move on in the summer, which is sad because he cares and has been a decent servant to the club, but ultimately he is getting on and is not good enough. Jose is brutal, thankfully. Go to sleep SC, see you in the summer x
Well that’s it.

Personally think it’s a poor window, don’t think we are any stronger particularly. Bergwijn will be a good player, but wasn’t ‘needed’ currently and isn’t, at this moment, an upgrade on Eriksen (who I understand we had to shift).

Been left weak at Fb.
Been left weak at DM.
Been left non existent up front.

It’s going to be a real up hill battle to challenge for fourth.

Just really wished we had shown some ambition. But all we can do now is get behind the squad until summer, especially with the gaps they are going to have to cover.

Cheers for the info this window.

Perpetual lurker here... What a strange transfer window this was. Some of the names we were linked with, you just have to laugh.

Here’s hoping JM has a good Fucking plan!

Cheers to all the ITK and mods

Few thoughts:
1) if we didn’t sign Bergwijn a few days ago but saved It for tonight a lot of us would be loving life right now - don’t think so short term, he’s mint!
2) if United finish above us in 4th TRUST ME the signing of Odion Ighalo will not have been the difference!! We’ve got enough great players to finish 4th.
3) getting rid of the first teamers who wanted out (rose/Eriksen) will have a monumental lift on the squad dynamic. Not to mention getting some stale 18/21yo out on loan. Training feels fresh on Monday.
4) José still dealing with Poch’s decisions (incl letting Llorente leave without cover and failing to get rid of contract rebels), he’s making his mark but this isn’t yet his team.

Perspective...this has been a good window, we’re moving forward, this club is my life and I’m happy that it is. COYS!!

Cheers for the info. Think about it with your head and Sissoko moving on is absolutely the correct decision.

I find it strange how Piatek is described as ‘meh’...

...but he’s seen as less than ‘meh’ by one of the greatest strikers our club has ever seen (Klinsmann)..

...that seems to suggest that he is slightly less than ‘meh’ IMO.

Not dissing your info Herc (I know nothing about Piatek) - it just confuses me.

Hertha brought in another striker too, Matheus Cunha.

True. It's on Poch that he didn't foresee his own sacking and therefore prepare for a Mourinho set up :shifty:

It's probably also on Poch that Mourinho didn't get the striker his set up requires despite us going into a transfer window knowing that we didn't have Kane for the rest of the season. :cautious:
Not sure what this has got to do with not addressing the fact we only had Kane as a recognized striker?

Wow what a fall from grace. He was on the fringes of the squad not long ago

Barely anyone left from our list of "Can't wait til he's old enough to get into the first team".

As has been said by ITK, it's probably the result of not allowing some to develop on loan

Probably something to do with the fact that Pochettino never intended us to be wholly reliant on Kane as striker? Much like we did when he was out for large chunks of last season. And the fact he was clearly prepared to give Parrot minutes if required.

Mourinho's set up absolutely requires a big striker to play long balls to. We had a whole transfer window to deal with that but didn't.

So putting this "on Poch" in those circumstances would seem pretty fucking ridiculous given the outcome of this window, no?

Another window closes, and everyone is again left feeling like the last kid picked in recess.

All I wanted was cabbages and wound up with hamlet.

See you all in May.

Thanks for sharing.
Same old stuff every window. Next window we will invest. I feel we accept this as fans hence the same old repeat.

We spent more on position not required. We need bread and egg however we go to the supermarket and buy ovaltine and jam.

Why am I surprised. Let's open the transfer thread from the last few windows and you will read identical comments. Piss poor, just piss poor.

We had the best part of 30days to get a striker (buy or loan) and didn't do this.

The January window is for clubs desperate to refuel their squad, we were desperate in need to fill that gap and not doing this is failure

Failure is a repeatable act of failed action.

In the past year we’ve signed Gio, NDombele, Gedson and Bergwijn.

I don’t see where this “Levylol” attitude comes from.

Anyway. Thanks for all the ITK this window. Been informative.
